The purpose of the summit was to solicit feedback toward the creation of a consensus framework that might inform policy and practice development in the area of gender identity and participation in collegiate sport, more specifically through the lenses of inclusion, fairness, student-athlete well-being, health, and safety. Outcomes and Deliverables. The summit focused on the following outcomes and deliverables: 1. Develop a consensus framework, composed of foundational statements that may inform education, policy and practice development, including any recommendations that may be provided to the NCAA Board of Governors. 2. Identify potential updates for NCAA Inclusion of Transgender Student-Athletes (2011) based on evolving and emerging data and principles of inclusion and fairness. 3. Identify potential educational opportunities for key stakeholders within the NCAA membership (e.g., student-athletes, administrators, coaches). 4. Identify other potential gaps in stakeholder knowledge, resources and support infrastructure and possible pathways for addressing these gaps. Participants. The summit convened representatives from the NCAA membership and external industry and subject matter experts with emphasis on collegiate student-athletes, the broader higher education community, medical and scientific organizations, and external diversity, equity, and inclusion

    2015-21 NCAA Division II Strategic Plan Addendum / January 2021 DIVISION II 300+ MEMBERS 23 CONFERENCES 120,000 STUDENT-ATHLETES 25 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 1 MISSION To provide value and significance for Division II members by supporting the purpose of higher education and striking a balance among academic excellence; athletics competition; community engagement; and social and personal development and wellness. As the 2015-21 Division II Strategic Plan enters its final scheduled year, the Division II Presidents Council and the Division II Planning and Finance Committee agreed to extend the plan through 2023 to align with the timing of several important Division II and NCAA initiatives. Primarily, launching a successor plan in 2024 aligns procedurally with the next Division II Membership Census and the beginning of the next phase of the NCAA’s broadcast agreement. In addition, the current plan has proven to be effective and is consistently aligned with the Division II membership’s values to address operational needs, which supports extending the plan without risk. This addendum highlights successful implementation to date of key initiatives that support the 2015-21 Division II Strategic Plan, outlines steps necessary to develop the next iteration of the plan, and illustrates action the Division II membership and governance structure took throughout 2020 to navigate the extraordinary circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic and keep the strategic plan on track. DIVISION II STRATEGIC PLAN ADDENDUM 3 Our Plan In April 2015, Division II formally adopted a six-year strategic plan that builds upon the division’s unique attributes and a position of fiscal strength to guide future decisions.

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 22, 2015 Board Names New Emporia State University President (Emporia, Kansas) - Today, the Kansas Board of Regents announced Allison Garrett as the 17th president of Emporia State University. The Board voted to approve the appointment and officially introduced the new president during a special meeting in the KSTC Ballroom of the Memorial Union on the Emporia State University campus. “Naming a president of an institution is one of the most important jobs we undertake as a member of the Board of Regents,” stated Shane Bangerter, Chair of the Kansas Board of Regents. “I come before you today confident that the Board has selected the person we believe is the right fit for today and for the future of Emporia State University.” Allison Garrett, J.D., has served as the Executive Vice President at Abilene Christian University for the past three years, and before that as Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, Associate Professor of Law, Vice President of Benefits and Compliance and as General Counsel, among other positions. A native of Neosho, Missouri, she received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Tulsa, College of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Oklahoma Christian College. Following the Board’s announcement, Allison Garrett and her husband, Chip Garrett, were introduced to members of the Emporia State University community during a reception. President Garrett will begin her presidency January 2016. The announcement of Allison Garrett as the 17th President of Emporia State University comes after six months of work by the Presidential Search Committee. Members of the committee received public recognition for their efforts.
