A longtime Division I assistant and head coach, Johnson will look to bring in the philosophies he’s proven as winners in the past and return Missouri Southern to its past success. RESTORE THE ROAR! - BUILDING A RELATIONSHIP I want to personally welcome you to a new season of Missouri Southern football and I want to see each and every one of you entertained by this fi ne group of young men that you’ll see every week. My coaches and I are working hard to establish a relationship with Joplin and the surrounding communities. We need your support and we want to be a team that not only can entertain you each week, but be one that you can routinely be proud of each time you see us out in the community. We know just how much this area loves its football and we hope we can continually give you an outstanding product to root on. So come out and be loud, be rowdy and above all, have fun. The team and Missouri Southern State University is proud to have you as fans and we hope that you are just as proud of us. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Go Lions! Free activities happen throughout the year: ball games, plays, music concerts, campus-wide picnics, lectures by famous people, intramural sports, and more. The Billingsly Student Center offers pool tables, the campus bookstore, and the ticket office with discount tickets to area concerts, attractions, and professional sporting events. The Campus Activities Board (CAB), a student-run group, plans concerts and special events for the campus. Joplin is also a fun place to live and learn. There are movie theaters, restaurants, and a large shopping mall less than a mile from campus. And if you feel like getting away for a while, Kansas City, Mo. is a 2 1/2 hour drive from Joplin, and Branson and Tulsa, Okla. are less than two hours away. The Four-State Region is also a great place for hiking, fishing, camping, and canoeing. JOPLIN COMMUNITY Joplin is located in southwest Missouri in the “four states” region encompassing Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas. At the edge of the Ozark Mountain region, Joplin has a current population of 51,000 The daytime population swells to 270,000 while the population within a 40 mile radius of Joplin is 400,000, making it Missouri’s fourth largest metropolitan area. Joplin combines the beauty and hospitality of country living with the convenience and commerce of city vitality.
