The Reality of Restoration Chapter One: The Barn Find campaign.r20.constantcontact.com/render?m=1102549439164&ca=33c6439f-9e58-4f49-86c7-7f2b3941345b 5/16 4/30/2019 Rolls-Royce Club Alerts - MAY 2019

It came to my attention that one of our fellow Rolls- Royce Owners Club (RROC), Keystone Region members, Gene Epstein, was working on a restoration project, which wasn't going well. For those of you who do not know Gene, he is a philanthropist who had been knighted in 1992 by the Knights of Malta for his philanthropic achievements.

Gene is no stranger to car restorations. He had been in the automotive business for many years and knows a great deal about cars. As a hobbyist, Gene has restored a wide range of brands and models over the years for his personal collection and has become an expert on the subject. His knowledge of cars and renovations could exceed any master automotive restoration workshop. But this one vehicle stood out as being the most complex and challenging of all the renovations projects he has dealt with. I spoke with Gene about it.

He told me he was working on a 1956 Continental Mark II Derham Victoria Coupe. I asked about this car, as I was unfamiliar with this model. Why did he choose to restore this particular automobile? He replied that only 2,419 of these cars were produced in 1956. He went on to explain that his car was the ONLY one of its kind.

Which side of the road is the "right" side?

Considering a trip to the UK to immerse yourself in the country's long and prosperous automotive history? aside, there's a lot to like (hey, it doesn't take six degrees of separation to find someone who's been bitten by the Prince of Darkness).

With all that the UK has to offer, you may wonder why the Brits insist on driving on the wrong side of the road-or the correct side, depending on your point of view. Driving on the left-like they do in Great Britain, Ireland, and Scotland, and most British colonies-made sense hundreds of years ago. According to worldstandards.eu, swordsmen rode their horses on the left side in order to fend off adversaries with their right (usually-dominant) hand. That logic prevailed throughout Europe and into the New World. READ MORE

Rolls-Royce sees sunny days in China market

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars set a remarkable business record in 2018 to achieve its greatest sales result in the brand's 115-year history, with 4,107 cars delivered to customers in over 50 countries worldwide.

RUMORED NEW BENTLEY SUV MAY BE BIGGER THAN THE BENTAYGA

At a little more than 202 inches in length, the Bentley Bentayga is pretty big. At the same time, it isn't nearly as long as its main competitor, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. Nor is it anywhere close to the same length as the much less expensive Lincoln Navigator L. Soon, though, Bentley may have a solution for that: a new SUV that's even bigger than the Bentayga.
