They are images firmly established in the common television consciousness of most Americans: Lucy and Ethel stuffing chocolates in their mouths and clothing as they fall hopelessly behind at a confectionary conveyor belt, a sunburned Lucy trying to model a tweed suit, Lucy getting soused on Vitameatavegemin on live television—classic slapstick moments. But what was I Love Lucy about? It was about Lucy trying to “get in the show,” meaning her husband’s nightclub act in the first instance, and, in a pinch, anything else even remotely resembling show business. In The Dick Van Dyke Show, Rob Petrie is also in show business, and though his wife, Laura, shows no real desire to “get in the show,” Mary Tyler Moore is given ample opportunity to display her not-insignificant talent for singing and dancing—as are the other cast members—usually in the Petries’ living room. The idealized family home is transformed into, or rather revealed to be, a space of display and performance. 2. These shows, two of the most enduring situation comedies (“sitcoms”) in American television history, feature musical numbers in many episodes. The musical number in television situation comedy is a perhaps surprisingly prevalent phenomenon. In her introduction to genre studies, Jane Feuer uses the example of Indians in Westerns as the sort of surface element that might belong to a genre, even though not every example of the genre might exhibit that element: not every Western has Indians, but Indians are still paradigmatic of the genre (Feuer, “Genre Study” 139). -

BCI The game "Hydrax" is a new concept in Adventure Games. It seeks to combine the best features of an Adventure Game with the action and graphics of an Arcade Game. As an adventurer you will be required to solve puzzles and riddles while exploring a vast underground world in your quest to find and defeat Hydrax. As an arcader you will use a joystick to control the hero and to fight various unfriendly creatures which inhabit the cave. The game is played in two ways, by means of the joystick, when fast action to defeat an enemy is required, and by typed commands if a more thoughtful solution is required. Pressing the space bar on the computer will freeze all action and allow you to type in a command. Commands may be single words or sentences. e.g. (i) LOOK-will tell you about the room (ii) OFFER 10 GOLD PIECES TO WITCH SOME USE.FUL COMMANDS INVENTORY - tells what you are currently carrying and how many life points you have left. SAVE GAME - saves game to disk (see note). EXITS FROM CAVERN The exits are left, right, back, front, up, and down. A cavern may have only one exit or any combination of six. All exits are normally visible on the screen except the front. The joystick can be used to walk through a left or right exit. JOYSTICK The joystick is used for walking, jumping, ducking, swimming and fighting. To fight you must carry a sword. Press fire button and direction of the joystick will point the sword. -

B1 touches first base, R3 touches home; however, R2 and R1 fail to touch 3rd and 2nd, respectively. As the entire jubilant offensive team celebrates in front of their dugout, the catcher throws the ball to the third baseman to appeal R2's failure to touch 3rd. The umpires will: - Call R2 out, but score the run on a time play. + Refuse to acknowledge the appeal, score the run, game over. - Call R2 out and cancel the run. Extra innings. - Allow R2 to return to touch third base. CABL Rules" Shall Mean All Rules, Regulations, and Procedures Stated Herein
Final 2020 Rules OFFICIAL BY LAWS, RULES & REGULATIONS OF THE COMMONWEALTH AMATEUR BASEBALL LEAGUE 1. Definitions 1.1. "CABL" shall mean the Commonwealth Amateur Baseball League. 1.2. "CABL Rules" shall mean all rules, regulations, and procedures stated herein. 1.3. "Board of Directors" or “BOD” shall mean the administrative body described in CABL Rule 2.4. 1.4. The League President shall mean the person designated as President in the CABL Articles of Organization. The League Vice President shall mean the person designated as Vice President in the CABL Articles of Organization. The Secretary and Treasurer shall mean the person designated as those officers in the CABL Articles of Organization. 1.5. "Team" shall mean the baseball member teams approved by the CABL BOD to participate in CABL activities. All Teams agree to abide by the rules, regulations, bylaws and guidelines of CABL. The number of Teams per season is capped at 16. 1.6. "League Fees" shall mean the fee each Team shall be required to pay to the BOD. The amount of the League Fee shall be determined prior to each season. 1.7. "Team Manager" or “Manager” shall mean the individual(s) who possess executive control over the on and off-field activities of a Team. The Team Manager shall have all rights, title and interest in the Team. 1.8. "Captain" shall mean the person designated by the Team Manager to assist the Manager in the fulfillment of his duties. A’s News Clips, Friday, June 18, 2010 Oakland A's bullpen lets Dallas Braden down in late loss to Chicago Cubs By Joe Stiglich, Oakland Tribune Dallas Braden was lined up for a well-deserved win, and the A's were poised to leave the Windy City with a series victory. That script never played out on a picturesque Thursday afternoon at Wrigley Field. Oakland's bullpen laid an egg in the late innings, and Kosuke Fukudome's walk-off RBI single off Jerry Blevins in the bottom of the ninth gave the Chicago Cubs a 3-2 victory in front of 36,942 fans. "That's a tough way to lose," A's second baseman Mark Ellis said. "Give (the Cubs) credit. They had some good at-bats there at the end." This one had to sting on several fronts for the A's. They could have carried some momentum into St. Louis as they begin a challenging weekend series against the Cardinals tonight. Instead, they watched the Cubs win their first series since taking two of three from the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 25-27. Oakland also spoiled an excellent start from Braden, who threw six innings of one-run ball and left with a lead but still hasn't found the win column since his May 9 perfect game. "Dallas pitched so hard. He gave us a chance," manager Bob Geren said. With the first-place Texas Rangers gathering steam, the A's have lost 11 of their past 16 and are a season-high six games out in the American League West. -

ABOUT PHOTOSENSITIVE SEIZURES A very small percentage of people may experience a seizure when exposed to certain visual images, including flashing lights or patterns that may appear in video games. Even people who have no history of seizures or epilepsy may have an undiagnosed condition that can cause these “photosensitive epileptic seizures” while watching video games. These seizures may have a variety of symptoms including: Lightheadedness, altered vision, eye or face twitching, jerking or shaking of arms or legs, disorientation, confusion, or momentary loss of awareness. Seizures may also cause loss of consciousness or convulsions that can lead to injury from falling down or striking nearby objects. Immediately stop playing and consult a doctor if you experience any of these symptoms. Parents should watch for or ask their children about the above symptoms–children and teenagers are more likely than adults to experience these seizures. The risk of photosensitive epileptic seizures may be reduced by: • sitting farther from the television screen, • using a smaller television screen, • playing in a well-lit room, and • not playing when you are drowsy or fatigued. If you or any of your relatives have a history of seizures or epilepsy, consult a doctor before playing. AVOID DAMAGE TO YOUR TELEVISION Do not use with certain televisions. Some televisions, especially front-or rear-projection types, can be damaged if any video games, including Xbox games, are played on them. Static images presented during the normal course of game play may “burn in” to the screen, causing a permanent shadow of the static image to appear at all times, even when video games are not being played.
