PRESS RELEASE ------No. 359/2019 Sonowal mourns the death of Tabu Ram Taid Dispur, August 17: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal mourned the death of veteran linguist, educationist, researcher, administrator and author Taburam Taid who breathed his last on Saturday at 7.30 am. In a statement here today, Chief Minister Sonowal said, “The death of Tabu Ram Taid who was popularly known Tabu Taid especially among the students, is a great loss to the state. A multifaceted personality Tabu Taid contributed immensely to the linguistic, educational, cultural development of the state”. His death is an irreparable loss and would definitely create void in the socio-cultural and educational landscape of the state. He said the state has lost an eminent educationist and linguist at the death of Tabu Ram Taid. An instrumental in establishing Mising Agom Kebang, Tabu Ram Taid became its first president which contributed to the enrichment of the . “Though no word is enough to condole the death of a great personality like Tabu Taid, I convey my deep sympathy to the bereaved family members and pray to the Almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul”, Sonowal added. The chief minister also asked chief secretary Alak Kumar to perform the final rites of late Tabu Taid with full state honour. Meanwhile, Sonowal also talked to the wife of late Taid over phone and expressed his empathy on behalf of the government. Chief Minister’s Legal Advisor Santanu Bharali also laid flower wreath on the mortal remains of Tabu Taid. Media Advisor of the chief minister Hrishikesh also condoled the death of Tabu Taid.
