OFFICE

Parents with children at catholic or independent schools should check with the school as to any particular local arrangements.

Independent schools will communicate directly with parents where any special arrangements apply.

Early Learning Centres

Parents with children attending early learning centres should contact their service regarding arrangements.

The safety of students, staff and the wider community are at the key to our decision making regarding school closures. Natural Disasters http://deta.qld.gov.au/natural-disasters.html

Apart from the state schools listed above, all other state schools will remain open at this stage.

Parents who need to send their children to schools in affected areas should exercise extreme caution and closely monitor road conditions.

Parents and staff should monitor morning radio reports about the status of schools in any flood-affected areas.

They are also advised to listen to updated weather forecasts and emergency services directives regarding the safety of road travel.

Concerned parents can also contact their local principal or education office for updated information about access to their children's school and classroom arrangements.

The decision to open or close individual schools is an ongoing process and is made with the safety of students, teachers and community members the highest priority.

These decisions will include many factors such as current and predicted weather conditions, river and flood levels as well as road and access conditions.
