7th Annual Rebel Rumble BACKGROUND Kevon Looney of the Golden State Warriors will host the 7th Annual Rebel Rumble Charity Basketball Double Header. This basketball showcase will raise funds for the Running Rebels Community Organization. For 39 years, the Running Rebels Basketball program has been a platform for developing athletic excellence, building character, providing educational and economic opportunity while also offering a source of stability in the lives of African American boys and young men in Milwaukee. Looney, a Milwaukee native started with the Rebels in the 3rd grade and since becoming a professional in 2015 has annually donated his time and resources. To bring national excitement to this year’s competition, Looney invited Big Baller Brand CEO Lavar Ball and his Junior Basketball Association (JBA) All-Stars to compete in the “Headliner Game” for summer bragging rights. Ball founded the JBA last year to provide a platform for aspiring players to pursue their professional hoop dreams through nontraditional channels while getting paid. Players on the JBA roster have overcome the odd’s and made multiple sacrifices to continue their basketball journey. And with Lavar on the sideline embarking coaching wisdom anything is possible.
