2020 Census Self-Response Rates - NCAI Region Profile

Pacific Region – 9/9/2020

2020 Census self-response rates are the percent of all households that have completed the 2020 Census form as of the date indicated. The 2020 Census self-response rates in this profile are downloaded from the U.S. Census Bureau each day for the tribal lands or geographies located in this National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) Region and are current as of the date of this report. While the goal is to achieve a 100 percent count, these profiles illustrate where the overall NCAI region and the tribal lands within the NCAI region are in terms of 2020 Census self-response rates compared to the 2010 Census final self-response rate and the current US national self-response date.

Figure 1 shows 2020 Census self-response rates for tribal lands in the NCAI Pacific Region compared to the 2020 Census U.S. national response rate since July 1, 2020.

Date

While the 2020 Census self-response rates are increasing for the NCAI Pacific Region, the latest result (34.7 percent) is a 2.7 percent increase from last week but still over 30 percent lower than the 2020 national response rate. To reach a 100 percent count of the NCAI Pacific Region, the response rate would have to increase by an average of 22 percent a week over the three weeks from 9/9/2020 to the end of the 2020 Census enumeration on September 30, 2020.

Figure 2 illustrates the 2020 Census self-response rates (blue bars) for tribal lands in all NCAI Regions as of 9/9/2020 compared to the final 2010 Census response rates (green bars). Only one NCAI Region has exceeded its 2010 Census final response rate (Northwest NCAI Region) as of the date of this report. However, NCAI Regions are encouraged to exceed their 2010 Census final response rates as much as possible and have a goal to achieve a 100 percent response rate by September 30, 2020.
