KEC Partner in Erasmus + SUNSpaCe Project Kantipur Engineering College has been always involved in many international projects including East-West, cLink, eLink, FUSION, Smartlink and now SUNSpace. SUNSpace stands for SUstainable developmeNt Smart Agriculture Capacity and is a European Union funded Erasmus+ capacity building in the field of higher education project. The partners in this projects are Kantipur Engineering College and Acme Engineering College from Nepal, Royal Uni- versity of Bhutan from Bhutan, Chiang Mai University and Khon Kaen University from Thailand, University of the West of Scotland from UK, Corvinus University of Budapest from Hungary and University of Lyon 2 from France. This project is coordinated by the University of Lyon 2 France.

SUNSpaCe project aims to link farmers of Nepal, Bhutan and Thailand with the technology in farming. The project will provide a framework to develop an educational and training systems to help farmers understand the use and usefulness of new technologies. The European Univer- sities will help the farmers in Asia by transferring knowledge and technology. The project will be effective from 2019 to 2022 AD and teachers, staff and students of the partner institutions may get an opportunity to participate in trainings programmes in European partner universities.

Visit of European Partner to Nepal

Through the SUNSpaCe project, Dr. Sylvian Touchard, Associate Professor of University of Lumeire, Lyon 2, France visited Nepal from June 2 to 5, 2019 to observe the farming conditions of Nepal. During his stay in Nepal, he visited both Kantipur Engineering College and Acme Engineering College and interacted with farmers from Dhunibesi, Dhading Dura- danda, Lamjung and Khairani, Chitwan.

SUNSpaCe Meeting in Thailand and France

Er. Rameshwar Rijal, Principal and Dr. Keshar Prasain, Vice Principal of the college participated in a five days kick up meeting of SUNSpaCE project from 25th February to 1 March, 2019 in Chiang Mai, Thailand. SUNSpaCe stands for SUstainable development Smart Agriculture Capacity and is the Erasmus + funded Capacity Building of Higher Education programme. The programme focusses on linking farmers with technology to improve the living standard. University of Lumiere, Lyon is the coordinator of this projects and the partners are: University of the West of Scotland, UK; Corvinus University of Budapest, Hungary; Kantipur Engineering College, Nepal; Acme Engineering College, Nepal; Royal University of Bhutan, Bhutan; Chiang Mai University, Thailand, Khon Kaen University, Thailand. The programme was focussed on planning for the successful implementation of the project. The project will end in 2022.

Similarly, Er. Rameshwar Rijal, Principal and Dr. Keshar Prasain, Vice Principal of Kantipur Engineering College visited University Technology Institute of University of Lumiere of Lyon 2, France to attend Project Management Board meeting of SUNSpaCe Project held on 17 to 21 June, 2019. During the meeting, the college presented the summary of survey that was conducted for the farmers of different regions of Nepal. The participants of the meeting also visited both traditional and hi-tech farms in Valence and Lyon, France. In the meeting the pilots to be conducted in Nepal, Bhutan and Thailand was finalized.

Activities at Research, Training and Consultancy Division Workshop on Effective Teaching “One-day Workshop on Effective Teaching” was organized for the newly ap- pointed teachers of the college on 22nd November, 2018 in the college prem- ises.
