Dear Rotarians,
Every great challenge is an opportunity. Rotary is not just a club, it is an invitation to endless opportunities. The world is changing rapidly. The Covid19 crisis has forced all of us to adapt new technologies. We need to change dramatically to face the challenges of this new age. On the Corona pandemic front, India as well as the rest of the world , it is not only people's health and well being is hit severely, but also grim prospects of economies across the world due to lockdowns. Millions of under privileged Indians have been hit hard by Covid19. Both the Rotary India leadership as well as individual clubs have led from the front in helping both the Central and state governments and provided help to the worst affected. Rotary's empathy, generosity and simple kindness are powerful tools in the recovery from this pandemic. It is the time that individual Rotarian has to act as leader and attract others to the Rotary. Every Rotarian is a leader who creates leaders. For this magic formula of Rotary is that a leader should have a vision, the vigour to act and the heart to care. Rotarians have to act as 'Trail Blazers' with service above self as Rotary opens opportunities. In these critical times it is important to be innovative and find opportunities. Let us explore increasing the membership by forming more flexible clubs and inducting more women members into Rotary. Encourage couple membership for active participation of ladies in the club activities. Women should play an integral role by giving them leadership opportunities. There is need of energy, commitment and leadership of young people. Increase the membership numbers through diversity. We have to empower young professionals and more women to take greater roles and responsibilities in Rotary. Have a nice Reading. ROTARY CLUB DHARWAD Rotary MADHURAVANI - 2020 -21

The Rotary I miss – Down the Memory Lane
Back in Late 90's & early 2000's, when I was a school going kid, the Rotary I witnessed had a charm of its own. As kids, we never knew about the wonderful yeoman service Rotary is involved in, all we cared about was the funfilled get togethers that our club RC Dharwad regularly organized for us.
Mee ng all your friends every month, all uncles & aun es pampering us gave us a strong feeling that we actually belonged here. We regularly had potluck dinners, picnics, cultural events & compe ons, games, movie nights (I remember watching Lagaan, Chota Chetan 3D at Sangam Talkies where the en re Balcony was booked for families of Rotary club of Dharwad as a fund raising event). Our Birthdays were celebrated in the monthly dinner mee ngs. And there never was a dearth for sumptuous food. Annet's Corner in the Madhurvani was all about our achievements, stories shared by us etc. (Special Thank you to our enthusias c President uncle for bringing back Madhurvani)
Also had an opportunity to help dad during his Governorship. Used to spend my en re vaca ons at the Rotary Office. It opened up plethora of opportuni es for me to meet Rotarians of all professions, ci es, states & other walks of life. The craze con nued when I joined the Interact Club in my school at St. Joseph's & served as a President bagging so many awards & recogni ons for my school. Something, which was a first and neverseenbefore event in our school. Well, not intending to boast but saying this so that all my fellow annets reading this should go right now & join the Interact movement in their respec ve schools. You can thank me later ;)
We literally knew every single Rotarian uncle, aun es, their kids and not sparing even their pets. Such was the camaraderie, friendship & a sense of togetherness amongst all of us. Trust me when I say I'm s ll in touch with so many of them. We relish those moments every now & then. For all the Annets reading this, Rotary is an amazing place to be. I would love to see the families get more involved and I'm sure this year will mark the start of a new era! Long live Rotary! Amol R. Deshpande ROTARY CLUB DHARWAD Rotary MADHURAVANI - 2020 -21

Ministry of Health and Family Welfare
Rotary support in eradica ng Polio from the world has been exemplary. With
only two countries in the world s ll with polio cases, we have poliofree world. Even
in India, we are working totally hand in hand with the government to eradicate Polio
from India. I have enjoyed receiving their support when I dreamt about it in 1993. I
compliment them and thank them for their contribu on to the pulse polio
programme brought in 1994.
Even during these mes of Covid19, Rotary has risen to the occasion and not
only contributed Rs.105 crore to P.M.Care fund, but also have done grassroot level
work to the value of Rs. 95 crore taking to the total to 200 crore. Rotary has
distributed more than 1 crore masks, few lakhs litres of sani zers, thousands of PPEs
is visible. Rotary is helping migra ng labourers by providing them food, footwear and
healthcare facili es, wherever they were needed. Rotary has done yeoman service in
helping heart surgeries for more than 20,000 children across India over the years. Eye
care, Cancer care centres etc too is commendable. I am aware of Rotary's future plans
under the leadership of incoming RI president from India, Shekhar Mehta. I have
been told that his plans include se ng up of many hospitals, blood banks, dialysis
centres, work on preven ve health care, mega health care etc.
I compliment Rotary for their health care ini a ve and wish them the very best
as they con nue to serve mankind with utmost dedica on and sincerity.
