Hennepin Avenue South W. Lake Street to Douglas Avenue
Project Background Project Location Daily Users Hennepin Avenue between Douglas Avenue and West Lake Street is programmed in the City’s Capital Improvement Program for reconstruction in 2024. Beginning in 2018, Public Works conducted preliminary planning work in order to submit an Pedestrians application for federal transportation funding through the 770 - 3,400 Metropolitan Council’s Regional Solicitation. Public Works was awarded these funds in early 2019. Moving forward, Public Works will conduct technical work, collect community feedback, and review policy guidance including the Transportation Action Plan (2020), Complete Streets Policy Transit Riders (2016), Vision Zero commitment (2017), and the Street Design 6,660 Guide (2021) to inform the design of Hennepin Avenue.
