Pål Rasmussen Relationship Manager Gassco AS, Norway Honorary Secretary General, IGU

Candidate from a Charter Member, to the election for the six seats in the IGU Executive Committee.

The candidate represent Norway, which in 2017 had another record year of natural gas production. The candidate’s home country delivered 25% of the European gas consumption in 2017. Moreover, Norway has, over the last years, been the second or third largest natural gas exporter globally.

The candidate was strongly involved when Norway proudly hosted the IGU Secretariat from 2007-2016, a period were IGU experienced major changes and corresponding challenges in the business environment of the gas industry.

Norway, including the candidate, has a long history of contribution to Committees and Task Forces, and this will continue in the coming triennium. We want to continue our contribution, and make the next IGU triennium a success for Korea, building on the great work of the US team.

Mr Pål Rasmussen are currently working as Relationship Manager in Gassco AS, Norway, with responsibilities for external affairs in the company. He has more than 25 years of experience from the gas industry. Gassco AS is responsible for the transmission of all piped gas from Norway, just below 120 BCM a year. Prior to this, he served as the Secretary General of the International Gas Union (IGU), knowing all aspects of the strategic agenda and the daily operation of IGU. Amongst other tasks, he was a key player in the initiation of the “Building for the Future” project, and had the lead on Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the project. He would highly appreciate the opportunity to be part of the implementation of Phase 3.
