27th Annual Expo Party Tickets are now available for the 27th Annual Expo Anniversary Party to be held Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at the George H. Henderson, Jr. Expo- sition Center. Activities will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a reception and silent auction. The silent auction will continue until 7:30 p.m., when the steak dinner begins. The single-night fundraiser held at the Expo will include door prizes, raf- fles, and silent and live auctions for the 500-600 people that attend the function annually. Leadership Tomorrow Quality of Life Day Leadership Lufkin’s Education Day The Leadership Tomorrow 2009-2010 class completed its last session of the Leadership Lufkin’s class of 2009-2010 completed its last session, Education year with Quality of Life Day on April 7, 2010. Jack O. (Butch) McMullen Silver Spike Award The Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce is taking nominations beginning April 9th for the coveted Jack O. (Butch) McMullen Silver Spike Award. This recipient of this award will be presented at the First Friday Luncheon on June 4th at Crown Colony Country Club. Since 1991, Leadership Lufkin has selected a graduate of the program to honor with the Silver Spike Award. Named in honor of Butch McMullen, of the Angelina and Neches River Railroad, the award is presented to an outstanding graduate of Leadership Lufkin who has excelled in their role as a leader in all areas of their life. The winner of the Silver Spike award will be someone who has exhibited the same leadership characteristics that McMullen did. The nominee should demonstrate leadership in their profession, church and community, and encourage others to get involved. They should also demonstrate that they are planning for the future of Angelina County. Nomination forms are available at the Lufkin/Angelina Chamber of Commerce office, or can be downloaded from www.leadershiplufkin. com, along with a list of Leadership Lufkin graduates. Seasons of Hope Center celebrated the completion of their first women’s dorm with a Ribbon Cutting ceremony on Sunday, March 28th. The dorms will house up to 10 to 12 women at a time and is an integral part of the program which helps abused and addicted women recover mentally, physically and spiritually. The dorm has three bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen and living room. Pictured is Carlene McMullen, Executive Director and members of the Seasons of Hope Center Board.
