WELCOME WELCOME TO THE ISENBERG INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP VIRTUAL SERIES!

The goal of this conference is to provide students with the tools, content, and networking opportunities to better understand the importance of diversity, and to help them learn the skills and capabilities of inclusive leadership. We are happy to be able to offer this event fully online this year, and we’re excited to be able to invite our extended community members in graduate programs and our alumni. Even though the focus of the event is to introduce our undergraduate students to topics in diversity, equity, and inclusion, the content being shared is also incredibly valuable to anyone in today’s workforce. I would like to thank EY as our premier partnering sponsoring once again this year. Their work in the DE&I space is truly admirable and we feel fortunate to have their experts in this area working with us this week. I would also like to thank all our sponsors for their contributions that make the entire event possible and for providing our students with cash prizes and scholarship opportunities. Finally, this event would not be possible without the support of Isenberg and our ILVS planning committee: Erin Messier, Assistant Director of Development; Molly O’Mara, Associate Director for External Relations, Berthiaume Center for Entrepreneurship; Christyn Fagan, Associate Director of Communications; and Ruth Hanselman, MBA Fellow. Thank you, Dean Massey, for making inclusive leadership education one of your top priorities at Isenberg. I hope you find value in this event and take pride in becoming a more inclusive leader.

Stay well, Alaina Macaulay Director of Diversity and Inclusion Isenberg School of Management University of Massachusetts Amherst

Keynote Speech Presented by EY Kick-Off to the Case Competition Inclusive Leadership During Times of Crisis — Leaders in organizations are tasked with many duties and responsibilities to serve both their organizations and their teams. Learn about how great leaders prioritize this important work and navigate the challenges they have faced practicing inclusive leadership. TUESDAY

Intersectional Allyship: Supporting Diverse Identities as a Member of the Dominant Group — Our demographic, social, and cultural identities are complex, and each of us experiences moments in our professional lives where we feel as though we are a member of the dominant group. Recognizing the complexity of our own identities, how can we use these moments to make our organizations more equitable and inclusive? What does allyship look like and how can we manage and improve our workplace cultures when we are great allies? WEDNESDAY

Anti-Racist Leaders and Organizations — As our world faced challenges and was met with a “new normal” due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the United States took center stage for another crisis. #BlackLivesMatter first originated in 2015, but the movement has again picked up traction as the nation calls for reconciliation and action against forms of systemic racism and injustice. As protestors spoke out demanding reform, many businesses and leaders spoke out publicly about ways in which they would combat such systems in their own organizations. This panel will discuss ways in which we can become anti-racist leaders, so we can continue to be the change in the organizations we are a part of. THURSDAY

Young Alum Panel: Navigating a Changing Work Culture — As young people in organizations, the imperative to prioritize diversity and inclusion work is critical but the path to doing so is not always clear. Hear from recent graduates of Isenberg about how they are navigating impacting and interacting with the diversity and inclusion landscape of their organizations while living through some of the most challenging times in our history.
