New Zealand Rugby employs more than one hundred staff who are based in its Wellington head office, Auckland or in a variety of rugby roles throughout New Zealand. Responsibilities include management of our national teams (including the All Blacks), administration of our national competitions, and participation in international competitions including Test matches, as well as assisting community rugby throughout the country. The organisation has direct relationships with its members, including all 26 Provincial Unions, Investec Teams, Commercial and other partners and stakeholders such as the New Zealand Government.

Purpose

New Zealand Rugby (NZR) has the biggest social media footprint in the rugby world, connecting with more than seven million fans worldwide. The Videographer & Digital Content Producer role will play a key role in providing compelling content that continues to drive fan interest and build the profiles of NZR’s key National Teams and competitions (Bunnings Domestic Competitions and Super Rugby).

When not travelling, the focus will be on coordinating video and social media content for all NZR channels (both national teams and competitions).

The NZR National Teams that this role will support include the All Blacks, Black Ferns, All Black Sevens, Black Ferns Sevens, Māori All Blacks, All Blacks XV & New Zealand Under 20 teams, alongside Super Rugby and Bunnings Domestic Competitions.

Key Tasks

Content/Video for NZR Digital Channels

• Produce, edit and supply engaging world class content for NZR digital channels while assembled with National Teams o Including, training, behind the scenes items (in the gym), interviews and match day preview and review. o Capturing content for NZR commercial partners. o When not on tour, create and coordinate video and social media content for other NZR channels. • Capture and distribute mixed zone and other video content for New Zealand and international media while assembled with the team(s) • Support video capture and editing needs of NZR-led announcements and other opportunities • Manage video content needs for NZR digital channels including promotion of National Teams and competitions: o Identified National Team training camps in New Zealand o Identified National Team’s tournaments overseas o Super Rugby, Bunnings Domestic Competitions (NPC, and Cup) • When required, capture content for Team All Blacks and NZR commercial partners • Ensure any photos and/or videos which have been captured are filed in central photo/video libraries accessible to all NZR staff

Social Media Content

• Create and drive content for all NZR social media channels (national teams, domestic competitions and Super Rugby) including, but not restricted to o Facebook o Twitter o Instagram o Tik Tok

Moderate social media channels with help from others

• Be pro-active to ensure that engaging content is regularly flowing across all of New Zealand Rugby’s social media platforms

• Work with other members of the Digital Content team to ensure volume and quality of content is maintained to a required level

Support NZR Priorities that Promote the Game to Fans • Drive other opportunities to engage fans through behind the scenes content for digital and social media platforms. • Create engaging content across all NZR digital platforms to continue to drive fan interest

National Teams Media Requirements • Working with NZR Comms and PR team, assist in managing media demands while National Teams participating in tournaments offshore • Support New Zealand and international media requirements of teams assembled overseas, including providing content to third party media

Other Duties • Assist in some PR and commercial activities to build the profile of our National teams while in overseas tournaments • Work with relevant NZR representatives to ensure all relevant match accreditations for yourself and/or other videographers are acquired for tournaments being attended

Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience • Relevant digital and/or media qualifications would be preferable • 2 – 3 years proven experience in digital environment beneficial • Min 2-3 years’ experience in sports team media environment would be an advantage

Knowledge • Strong knowledge of and a passion for rugby, including sevens, women’s and domestic rugby • Strong video filming/editing experience including shot taking, editing and file transfer knowledge and experience.

Skills • Photoshop or similar design skills • Use of mobile devices i.e. phone to shoot, edit and publish content quickly • Use of industry standard HD video cameras • Stills photography • Video editing skills, ideally with Adobe Premiere Pro • Good online briefing, copywriting and editing skills • Ability to work with people and make them at ease to get great results in front of a video camera • Motion graphics experience would be beneficial.
