He has since been a patron and ambassador of the LGBTQ movement and has launched many new programmes and charities to support LGBTQ communities. Why is Pride month still important? • Unfortunately some people still do not accept LGBTQ+ individuals and their basic rights. • You can see that hate crimes against LGBTQ+ individuals in London are actually increasing year on year. What can you do to support Pride? • You do not have to be LGBTQ to support Pride, its up to everyone to support to LGBTQ community, you could do this by doing the following: • Make / print a flag for your house / bedroom or to hang out your window. • Don’t have a flag? Then wear your colors on a t-shirt, a hairband, or on the laces in your shoes. • Get some know how! - Educate yourself with a book / podcast / film or documentary. • Make sure that you aren’t using homophobic language in your everyday conversations and call out those who do. • Get involved in some of the events that Redbridge have going on for Pride month (see the next slides for details) REDBRIDGE CELEBRATES
