ABOUT TONIGHT’S OPPONENT • The current Tacoma Stars franchise were founded in 2003 as members of the Premier Arena Soccer League. • They moved around between the Premier Arena Soccer League, Professional Arena Soccer League and Western Indoor Soccer League. • In January 2015, team owner Lane Smith acquired the assets of the failed Seattle Impact of the Major Arena Soccer League and announced that the Stars would complete the Impact’s 2014-15 MASL season. The Stars have been members of the MASL since. • The Stars are named after the Tacoma Stars that played in the original Major Arena Soccer League from 1983 to 1992. f FAMILIAR FACES IN DIFFERENT PLACES • Ambush defender Mike Scharf appeared in two games with Tacoma during the 2018-19 season. • Ambush defender Pablo da Silva appeared in 17 games with Tacoma during the 2018-19 season. • Stars forward Dan Antoniuk appeared in 17 games with the Ambush during their 2013-14 inaugural season. AMBUSH ADD TWO, RELEASE ONE • Prior to this week’s roster deadline, the Ambush added two players and released one. These changes were approved by the league Thursday and announced earlier today. • Veteran Pablo Da Silva is one of the new additions. The Florianopolis, Brazil native has over 20 years’ professional soccer experience in the indoor, outdoor and futsal ranks. He is a veteran of ten professional indoor soccer seasons, having played with the Milwaukee Wave, Baltimore Blast, Chicago Soul, Cedar Rapids Rampage and Tacoma Stars. He won MISL Championships with the Wave in 2010-11 and 2011-12. Pablo previously played with the Ambush during the 2017-18 season, posting seven goals, 12 assists and blocking 19 shots in 16 appearances. • Goalkeeper Adrian Porcayo is the second addition to the Ambush roster. Porcayo previously played with the Chicago Mustangs during the 2014-15 season, then played for the Mustangs Premier team in the PASL Premier league. The Ambush have been without a backup for starting goalkeeper Paulo since the start of the season and the signing of Porcayo will fill that role. • In order to make roster space for the two new players and comply with the MASL’s 26-man roster limit, the team granted Niko Karidis his unconditional release.
