THE HOLOCAUST AND THE SEARCH FOR FORGIVENESS An Invitation to the Society of jesus? Pope John Paul II has led the Church into a new era in its relationship with the Jewish Community. Progress rests on painstaking efforts to uncover the truth, identify failures where they exist, and humbly seek forgiveness. Recent scholarship presents a complex picture in Europe both before and immediately after the Second World War, both in the local churches and at the Vatican. Such can dor prompts a question: Should the Society of Jesus, serving its own role in the universal Church, review its own history during this dark period, and where neces sary, join in the Churclis search for forgiveness? ear the beginning of the new millennium, Pope John N Paul II made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem and prayed at Judaism's most holy site, the Western Wall of Herod's Tem ple.

It has about 4 thousand inhabitants and is only 15 km from the corner of Austria away. The historic marketplace is one of the most beautiful in the whole region. The first time Tann is mentioned in an historical document, was in the year 927 in context with the bishop of Salzburg Adalbert. In 1389 Tann has grown up to a so-called 'marketplace' and got the right to hold markets. From the year 1300 to 1900 the most important business sector were the weaving mills. In old bills from the traders, are named destinations for their drapery like Trieste, Genoa, Venice and Amsterdam. The most impressive building is the church St. Peter and Paul. At the end of the 17th century, began a pilgrimage to the "Godfather of Tann" which is the name of a wooden cross. The saga tells, that the beard and hair of the crucifix began to grow for several times. After that many miracles happened caused by the cross. She was among the very few women who have served with Royal British Air Forces and then the Israeli newly established Air Forces. For many years she was the editor of the Hasade magazine until she retired at the age of 60. Since then and for more than 30 years she has dedicated her life to the research of German Jews covering a period of three centuries, hundreds of locations, thousands of family trees and tens of thousands of individuals. Such endeavor wouldn’t have been able without the generous assistance of the many Registors (Standesbeamte), Mayors (Bürgermeister) and various kind people from throughout Germany. Per her request the entire collection and research was donated to the Central Archives for the History of the Jewish People in Jerusalem and the Jewish Museum in Frankfurt am Main. She passed away in 2015 and has left behind her one daughter, Maya, 4 grandchildren and a growing number of great grandchildren. 1 P 325 – Cohn This life-time collection is in memory of Marion Cohn's parents Consul Erich Mokrauer and Hetty nee Rosenblatt from Frankfurt am Main and dedicated to her daughter Maya Dick. • Machine Safety in Extreme Environments
Technical article, published in: Schüttgut (4/2019) Adverse ambient conditions for switchgear: the flotation Emergency pull-wire switches systems used in potassium chloride extraction at the K+S Machine safety potash works in Neuhof-Ellers in extreme environments At its Neuhof-Ellers site near Fulda, the company K+S Kali mines raw potash and magnesium salts at depths of down to 800 metres. The atmosphere in the flotation plants which separate the potassium chloride from the rock salt and other mineral salt constituent parts is extremely corrosive. Trust is therefore placed in "Extreme" emergency pull-wire switches which have been thoroughly tested and which allow the plants to be switched off very fast should a dangerous situation occur. ar below the surface of the earth, at a Potash does not play a direct role in F depth of 540 to 780 metres, Upper human nutrition, but its indirect impor- Permian deposits are to be found in the tance is all the greater for it. Without eastern parts of Hesse and Thuringia: raw potash, basic plant products such as grain potash and magnesium salts which K+S would be almost impossible to farm Kali has been mining for decades. In the Neuhof-Ellers mine, around 20 km west of Fulda, there is also a third, much rarer salt: here kieserite is mined – a mineral containing magnesium and sulphurous material (magnesium sul- phate), which is ideally suited as a fertiliser for certain crops because it not only generally strengthens the plants, but also prevents chlorosis, a deficiency disease.
