VOL. 52, NO. 3 TECH ACTION 03 Homecoming 2016 VOL. 52, NO. 3 04 ALUMNI NEWS ALUMNI NEWS Homecoming 2016 HOMECOMING 2016 Homecoming Saturday 2016 at Arkansas Tech University featured two swarms of humanity that left those in green and gold with smiles on their faces. The first took place as soon as the name Emily Shain echoed over the public address system at Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field. A senior from Paragould, Shain was head drum major for the Arkansas Tech marching band, known far and wide as “Arkansas’ Band of Distinction,” during the 2016 football season. She was also elected to the 2016 Homecoming court, and when she was announced as Homecoming queen during a halftime ceremony, her fellow band members abandoned their positions on the field to join their leader for a group hug that clearly demonstrated what Shain meant to them.
