A299 THANET WAY, BRENLEY CORNER TO MONKTON

(PROHIBITION OF DRIVING)

TEMPORARY ORDER 2020

To allow essential high-speed road maintenance works to be safely carried out, County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit traffic on sections of the A299 Thanet Way between Brenley Corner and Monkton.

Phased overnight closures are planned from Monday 20 July 2020 for a total of 9 weekday nights, between 19:30 hours and approximately 05:00 hours each night.

The planned dates of closure, extents of Thanet Way affected and alternative routes are as shown below.

Monday 20 July 2020 – coastbound closure from A2/A299 Brenley Corner to A290 Clapham Hill Alternative route via A2 Boughton Bypass, Dover Road, A2050 Bypass, Palmar’s Cross Hill, Road, A290 Road, Tile Kiln Hill, Hill, Blean Common, Honey Hill, Pean Hill and Clapham Hill to re-join A299 Traffic from Whitstable Road (Graveney), Waterham Road and Highstreet Road will be diverted London-bound to Brenley Corner to join the main diversion

Tuesday 21 July 2020 – London-bound closure from A290 Clapham Hill to A2/A299 Brenley Corner Alternative route is as per previous night, but in reverse Traffic from Pilgrims Lane, Dargate Road, Highstreet Road, Plumpudding Lane, Fostall and Staple Street will be diverted coast bound to Brenley Corner to join the main diversion

Wednesday 22 July 2020 for 2 nights – full closure in both directions between Whitstable and junctions with A2990 (Old )Thanet Way Alternative route is via A2990 (Old) Thanet Way

Friday 24 July & Monday 27 July 2020 – coastbound closure from A2990/A291 Herne Bay on-slip to St Nicholas Roundabout Alternative route via A291 Road, Herne Street, Canterbury Road, Calcott Hill, Herne Bay Road, Hill, A28 Island Road, Staines Hill, Island Road and Canterbury Road to re-join A299

Tuesday 28 July 2020 for 2 nights – London-bound closure from St Nicholas Roundabout to A2990/A291 Herne Bay off-slip Alternative route as above, but in reverse

Thursday 30 July 2020 – full closure in both directions between St Nicholas Roundabout and Monkton Roundabout Alternative route via A28 Canterbury Road, A253 Ramsgate Road and Canterbury Road, and vice versa
