MacKINNON IN JANUARY MacKinnon led the Avalanche and all NHL rookies with nine goals in January. His 13 points in January ranked third among first-year players behind Ondrej Palat (16) and Tyler Johnson (14). Nathan's nine goals were the second-most ever by an Avalanche rookie in a single month, one shy of Marek Svatos' record (10 in January 2006). The franchise record for goals by a rookie in a single month is 12 by Peter Stastny with Quebec in February 1981.
