DBAFT.

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE TRADES AND INDUSTRIES (EEGULATION) ORDINANCE.

BE IT ENACTED by the High Commissioner for Palestine, with the advice of the Advisory Council thereof :—

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Trades and Industries Short title• (Eegulation) (Amendment) Ordinance, 1941, and shall be read as one with the Trades and Industries - (Eegulation) Ordinance, here- Cap. 143. inaffcer referred to as the principal Ordinance.

2. Section 8 of the principal Ordinance shall be amended by the Amendment of addition of the following words at the end thereof :— section 8 of the principal "and may in like manner exempt any person or class of persons Ordinance. from the payment of all or any such fees."

OBJECTS AND REASONS.

This draft Ordinance amends section 8 of the principal Ordinance so as to enable the High Commissioner in Council by order to exempt any person or class of persons from payment of licence fees under the principal Ordinance. Section 8, though it provides for the amendment of the schedule of licence fees, makes no provision for the granting of exemptions from payment of the fees. The particular object of the amendment is to enable the exemption to be granted in favour of medical and clinical societies and institutions which have been exempted from the payment of urban and rural property tax under sections 9 and 13 of the Bates and Taxes (Ex• emption) Ordinance, 1938.
