Coaching Career In his 11 years leading the Syracuse women’s volleyball team, head coach Jing Pu’s teams have 1975-79 Qinghai Province, posted six 20-plus win seasons and made fi ve appearances in the BIG EAST Tournament. With a year of head coaching experience, Carol Munger returns to her alma mater as an assistant coach for the Orange. She graduated from Syracuse in 2002 and earned her masters while serving as the program’s graduate assistant in 2003. In her playing career at SU, Munger totaled 741 kills and 95 blocks. Her 3.49 career kills per game average ranks third all-time. In 2005, Munger served as the head coach at Clarkson University where she led the Golden Knights to a 20-14 record. She guided four student-athletes to all-conference honors and earned a fi fth-place fi nish as the 12th seed in the NYSWCAA Tournament. The Golden Knights played the toughest schedule in program history, but still set the school record with 350 service aces and had the second most kills in team history with 1,471. After earning her undergraduate degree and masters in accounting, Munger traveled to France in 2004 and played professionally in the National French League. She also coached a youth volleyball team in the Chatelaillon community while overseas. Munger currently resides in Syracuse.

Orange All-American Kelly Duan joins the volleyball staff as a graduate assistant for the 2006 season. The program’s fi rst All-American, Duan is a constant in the school’s record books. In 2005, she recorded the highest single-season kills total (537), the third-most attacks (1,217) and fi fth in service aces (57). For her career, Duan ranks third in service aces (175) and sixth in kills (1,360), attacks (3,373), digs (1,091), block assists (290) and total blocks (325). Duan received All-America honorable mention accolades from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) in 2004 and 2005. She also became the third player in school history to be named to the AVCA All-Region Team. Duan was named to the fi rst-team All-BIG EAST Conference in 2004 and 2005, and was a recipient of the BIG EAST/Áeropostale Female Scholar-Athlete Award her senior year. Duan also was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team in 2005. Duan is completing her master’s degree in accounting. She received her undergraduate degree in fi nance and accounting in May of 2006. She was a six-time member of the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and was named a BIG EAST Academic All-Star on three occasions.

ACADEMIC SUPPORT COSIDA ACADEMIC To support the athletic and academic goals of the student- ALL-AMERICA athletes, the Syracuse Athletics Department has a comprehensive 1998 Keri Potts (fi rst team) academic services unit, the Offi ce of Student-Athlete Services. The role of SEC is to provide experiences and opportunities (fi rst team) that will help the student-athletes realize their full potential.
