ANIMATING MY THESIS

The animation process took months to complete. There is never enough time to complete this part because it can never be truly done. For me, I can go back into my film and find more and more scenes to edit.

I wanted to animate my film as if it were an episode of a cartoon you would see on TV, but with more dynamic shots. I tried to achieve this by using slightly untraditional camera angles, POV’s, and strange pans. These can be seen in the scenes when Koala hits Tripp with the stick, Koala climbs up Tripp's shirt, a flashback to when Tripp is hit, and when Koala falls into the stomach.

I tried pushing myself while animating this film. I animated every scene exactly how I envisioned them in my head, regardless of never having tackled a scene like it before. Keeping the character smooth, consistent, and lifelike was one of my main goals while animating. Usually, for homework and assignments, I would stay in my comfort zone by not moving the camera and using almost no color. This film has improved my other work and now my comfort zone has expanded into something I could never have imagined. THE STORY: FROM NORMAL TO WTF

I’ve had many jobs during the history of my life but I found a slight passion for delivering things. The smile on the customer's face when I hand them their food or package is something that makes me feel like I did something important for someone.

I wanted to create a film about the experiences I have had in my life. You never know what’s going to happen from the moment I turn on my car to when I finally get home. In this case, Tripp’s car didn’t work, he met a friend who got him into trouble, he grew to an enormous size, and finally made it back to normal.

I was heavily inspired by “”, “”, and “Rick and Morty”. I love these shows because every episode contains something I wasn’t expecting as a viewer and I strive to one day create something like these shows.

I wanted to end the story with something sweet. I had Koala put on the hat that Tripp threw in the beginning of the film to imply that the two have a future working together. This leaves the film open so I can make a sequel or more digital shorts in the future. I really enjoyed this project and I would love to revisit it later in my animation career. Bunch O’ Junk that went into the development of my film or stuff I just like.
