The Congressional Medal of Honor is our nation’s highest award for valor and represents the ultimate act of sacrifice that best defines American heroism

THE GAME The Medal of Honor Bowl is a premier all-star game featuring some of the nation’s top draft eligible players. The game features a full week of events culminating with the game on the second Saturday in January of each year. The inaugural game will be played on January 11, 2014, at Johnson Hagood Stadium in Charleston, . Charleston has gained acclaim as the top destination city in the United States (Conde Nast Traveler’s Reader’s Choice Awards) for three consecutive years. The game will be played under National Football League Rules with current NFL officials. The ex- pectation of the invited NCAA college talent is that nearly 70% of the players will sign contracts with the National Football and Canadian Football Leagues. Halftime entertainment will feature a national celebrity performance each year, in celebration of American freedoms and the many sacrifices rendered by our nation’s military.

BOWL WEEK The full ‘bowl week’ of events will include a very special Medal of Honor Banquet celebrating America’s great- est heroes, the recipients of the Congressional Medal of Honor. The banquet will feature a national speaker and will host the ninety players selected for the game. The Congressional Medal of Honor Museum is located upon the World War II Aircraft Carrier, The Yorktown, permanently anchored in Charleston Harbor. A new stand-alone museum is planned at Patriot’s Point in Mt. Pleasant. The bowl game will generate its primary proceeds to the Medal of Honor Museum Foundation for that purpose. The bowl will support the Wounded Warrior Project, as well. A Wounded Warrior’s Luncheon will be a permanent part of ‘bowl week’ and will feature a prominent national speaker. In addition, the events of the week will include an NFL Coaches Luncheon and a Fellowship of Christian Athletes Prayer Breakfast. All are open to the public. There will be other venues for the two hundred or more NFL scouts expected to attend the football prac- tice sessions. The game is the first all-star venue of the post-NCAA football season and has attained NFL ‘combine status’ with the NFS (National Football Scouting service). This means that all 32 NFL teams will be invited to take part in the player measurements, performance metrics, and time trials. Typically, all 32 teams will be represented by as many as a dozen player position scouts, as well as scouts from the CFL.
