A widening of the river near Pemberton forms Lillooet Lake. ( 35.3 square kilometers) The lake drains into and then the mighty .

Towering mountain vistas in all directions encompass Lillooet Lake. Garibaldi Park to the south is the view captured from the sun deck of this property. This Provincial Park is 1946.5 sq. kms. Mt. Garibaldi is at an elevation of 2678 meters above sea level. Lillooet Lake is 195 meters. With that said, no wonder Whistler and the surrounding area have become one of the most sought after destinations from people around the globe as a summer and winter vacation spot. The summers can be hot, with averages higher than the Greater Vancouver area. The winters are actually not what one would think at the elevation of the lake. Since the owners bought this property in 1975 the most snow that they had on the property was about 1-½ feet. But if you want to find some snow in the wintertime in this area it won’t be too hard to find. The lake is warm enough to swim in the summers and if you are a little crazy maybe the winters too. Some portions of lake freeze over but to the knowledge of the owner they have never seen it completely freeze over

HISTORY Pemberton was named for Joseph Despard Pemberton a government surveyor. The community was established in 1895 near the head of Lillooet Lake as a stop along the trail to the goldfields between Harrison Lake and the Fraser River. The Pemberton trail was completed to Squamish in 1877. It was used briefly to drive cattle to the coast before it fell into disuse. It was via this route that BC Rail arrived from Squamish in 1914. Settlement began in the 1880’s and farming, especially of seed potatoes, was the main economy for years. Logging became important in the 1950’s. Incorporated on July 20, 1956 the town has benefited from the rapid growth of the resort community of Whistler, 35 Km to the South.
