What’s Happening?

• ACCEPTING COMMENTS: The Mental Health Trust Authority Board of Trustees met on January 30 th in Juneau — they held a 30-minute public comment period on the Long House funding proposal; 11 people called in via teleconference. The Board did not make any funding decision at this meeting. They encouraged the public to submit comments, concerns and questions. At this time, there is no comment deadline.

• The Joint Spenard/Turnagain Council Long House Committee is continuing to meet to discuss council input, public process and how to influence the outcome of the project. Until further notice, the committee will meet the first and third Mondays of the month, 5:30-7:30 p.m., 1 st Floor United Conference Room, 1057 W. Fireweed Ln. NEXT COMMITTEE MEETING IS MONDAY, FEBRUARY 18th

• West Anchorage Assembly Representative Ernie Hall and Municipal Ombudsman Darrel Hess are initiating meetings with Spenard and Turnagain Community Council Presidents and Joint Committee Co-chairs, Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority (entity proposing to fund the acquisition of the Long House property) and Anchorage Community Mental Health Services (organization that would operate the Long House severely mentally ill housing facility). Next meeting is February 8th at City Hall. The general public is NOT invited to attend.
