Junior League of Arlington Receives Dress Donation from Macy’s ARLINGTON, – Macy’s will help life shine brighter for the Arlington area by donating more than 500 prom dresses to Junior League of Arlington (JLA.) Four local Macy’s stores, including the Shops at Willow Bend, , , and , partnered with Girls Inc. of Tarrant County to distribute prom dress donations to Junior League of Arlington. All dresses will benefit Junior League of Arlington’s annual prom dress boutique, where young women can “shop” for prom dresses, shoes, and accessories, free of charge. “Glass Slipper Boutique is a boutique the Junior League of Arlington sets up every year to help provide young ladies in our community a chance to have the prom dress of their dreams. It is designed to help the girls that otherwise may not be able to buy a dress, shop for dresses, shoes, and accessories,” explains Emily Doering, the 2020-2021 Glass Slipper Boutique Chair. This generous donation was made possible by Girls Inc. of Tarrant County, a long-standing partner of Junior League of Arlington. “The Junior League of Arlington is proud of our continued partnership with Girls Inc. of Tarrant County. Our shared missions of empowering females often brings us together, and we are so grateful that this partnership has afforded JLA the opportunity to expand our Glass Slipper Boutique through the generous donation of prom dresses from Macy's,” states Jamie Burchfield, President of the Junior League of Arlington. Starting in 1976 as the Arlington Girls Club, Girls Inc. of Tarrant County serves at risk girls through comprehensive programming, STEM, college and career readiness, mentoring and social/emotional training. Girls Inc. of Tarrant County programs encourage health, wellness, education, career readiness, and independence. By advocating for girls and their futures, we reduce barriers in girls’ lives that stem from the violence, poverty, and inequity they encounter at home, at school, in relationships, online, or in their community.

The Glass Slipper Boutique is a two-day event held every spring, and young women across the metroplex, including girls mentored by Girls Inc. of Tarrant County, are invited to “shop” with

JLA to find their perfect prom dress and accessories. Additionally, the Glass Slipper Boutique partners with Tim Tebow’s Night to Shine, a prom event held annually for people with special needs. Since its inception in 2008, the Glass Slipper Boutique has served thousands of young women, helping them get ready for prom and equipping them with safe dating information and tips. “Macy’s is committed to giving back, sharing joy and being there for the community in times of need. This unprecedented time has brought challenges to many families in the communities Macy’s colleagues live and work, and Macy’s is proud to support incredible organizations – such as Girl’s Inc. of Tarrant County and Junior League of Arlington – whose impactful work plays a vital role in strengthening and enriching the local community and beyond,” says Loren Payne, Store Manager of Macy’s Irving Mall. Additionally, throughout September, Macy’s will offer customers the opportunity to round-up their in-store purchase to the nearest dollar (up to $.99) and donate their change or donate on macys.com to support Girls Inc. “During these challenging times, we are grateful for partners like Macy’s. Their generosity has fostered a collaboration opportunity that allows Girls Inc. of Tarrant County and the Arlington Junior League to empower girls and support families across Tarrant County,” says Jennifer Limas, President & CEO of Girls Inc. of Tarrant County. The Glass Slipper Boutique is made possible by donations of formal dresses and accessories. Macy’s donation will allow Junior League of Arlington the opportunity to offer the same dresses in multiple sizes, something that hasn’t been possible in the past. More importantly, this sizable donation ensures that Junior League of Arlington will be able to continue helping prepare these young women for many years. “We are so grateful this year to have partnered with Girls Inc. and Macy’s to further our goal to empower these young women. The generous donation from Macy’s will provide an opportunity to help so many more girls this year and years to come. I am beyond excited to chair this committee this year and make a difference in so many lives,” says Emily Doering.
