Anak Krakatau, which is largely built on the steep NE wall of the 1883 Krakatau eruption caldera, is active on its SW side (towards the 1883 caldera), which makes the edifice quite unstable. A hypothetical 0.280 km3 flank collapse directed southwestwards would trigger an initial wave 43 m in height that would reach the islands of Sertung, Panjang and Rakata in less than 1 min, with amplitudes from 15 to 30 m. These waves would be potentially dangerous for the many small tourist boats circulating in, and around, the Krakatau Archipelago. The waves would then propagate in a radial manner from the impact region and across the Sunda Strait, at an average speed of 80–110 km h21.

Thirty-three butterfly species were collected in July 1993 from Sebesi and Sebuku Islands, Indonesia. Most of them were identified at the subspecies level, except several lycaenids. Fourteen species (42.4%) out of the 33 have never been recorded from the Krakataus. This proportion is distinctly higher than 4 to 8 (13.3 to 26.7%) of 30 species recorded from Sebesi in 1989. When these data were taken together, the percentage becomes 32.7 to 40.4% (17 to 21 of 52 species recorded from Sebesi-Sebuku). Comparison between Javanese and Sumatran subspecies in the rate of commonspecies on Sebesi-Sebuku and the Krakataus indicates that the butterfly fauna of the Krakataus have been chiefly derived from Java rather than from Sumatra even though the 2 stepping-stone islands exist between the Krakataus and Sumatra.

  • Analysis of Tourism Mapping in Lampung Province to Optimize Entrepreneurship Development
Review of Integrative Business and Economics Research, Vol. 8, Supplementary Issue 2 110 Analysis of Tourism Mapping in Lampung Province to Optimize Entrepreneurship Development Khomsahrial Romli* Universitas Bandar Lampung M. Oktaviannur Universitas Bandar Lampung Dora Rinova Universitas Bandar Lampung Yanuarius Yanu Dharmawan Universitas Bandar Lampung ABSTRACT The lack of information relating to the general locations in Lampung makes the tourists/people who want to go to Lampung difficult to meet the locations to be addressed. In an effort to implement the government program on the implementation of the regional autonomy law, the Lampung Provincial government wants to advance its region from the tourism sector because tourism is considered to be a high source of local government revenue. The main factors to consider is that if one is to travel, the question emerge will be about where to go, how far it is, what is interesting, and what activities can be done during the trip there, to answer the questions needed geographical insight about the mapping of tourism location. Geographic information systems are computer systems used to collect, integrate, organize, transform, manipulate, and analyze geographic data. The application of this geographic information system is built with java programming Android using ADT Bundle software which includes Eclipse as java programming language editor, ADT as plug-in for Eclipse, and SDK for the development of Android based application. This application will give benefit for tourists and the people who want to search good places to visit in Lampung. Keywords: Mapping, Tourism, Android programming 1. INTRODUCTION Tourism is an asset that is considered to be tangible and intangible with its attraction.

ISSN 8755-6839 SCIENCE OF TSUNAMI HAZARDS Journal of Tsunami Society International Volume 38 Number 2 2019 ANAK KRAKATAU VOLCANO EMERGENCY TSUNAMI EARLY WARNING SYSTEM A. Annunziato1, G. Prasetya2, S. Husrin3 1European Commission Joint Research Centre - 2Tsunami Society Indonesia (IATsI) - 3Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia ABSTRACT On 22 Dec 2018 13:56 UTC a tsunami was generated from the area of the Anak Krakatau Volcano, with waves propagating in all directions inside the Sunda Strait - the sea portion between the islands of Java and Sumatra. The cause of this event seems to have a correlation with the ongoing volcanic eruption, which was particularly active since June 2018 [4]. At the time of the event, the Tsunami Early Warning System currently implemented in Indonesia, could not be used because there was no mechanism to activate the system on the basis of sea levels measurements or other information from the volcano activities. Given the situation, the Indonesian authorities decided to implement an Emergency Early Warning System that can timely inform if any sea level disturbance represents a tsunami from volcano activities and therefore be able to activate the warning sirens. The Joint Research Centre (JRC), in collaboration with the Indonesian Tsunami Society, the Marine Research Centre of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries and the Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency of Indonesia (BMKG) worked together since the event in December in order to design and implement the new Emergency System. The new system will adopt the real time fast Tsunami instruments (Inexpensive Device for Sea Level Monitoring or IDSL), developed by JRC [ 1], to monitor in real time on a 24/7 the sea level and provide email, SMS alerts, CCTV images and inform about a potential event.

South Lampung has a function as a gateway for the transportation between the islands of Sumatra and Java that are served by the national road. The purpose of this study was to analyze the development of the road network in South Lampung regency, especially in the Coastal Ring Road Kalianda reviewed from various aspects and interests. The purpose of this study was to examine the possibility of building a road to connect the existing road network with facilities available / to be created. Comparison of costs and benefit is a basis in determining the economic and financial feasibility of the development and operation of transportation facilities. Results obtained from the analysis that is needed cost Rp 180,888,775,414 to build a new road. Benefits of new roads is calculated from vehicle operating cost savings is Rp.

Dr. Djunjunan No.236, Husen Sastranegara, Bandung, Jawa Barat 40174, Indonesia Email: [email protected] Abstract In the past years, Indonesian people put more attention to Sunda Strait located between Java and Sumatra Islands, one of the busiest straits occupied with residential, recreational, fisheries, transportation, industrial and mining activities. Previous works on numerical modelling of tidal flow hydrodynamics of the Sunda Strait have resulted in good agreement against field data; however, the calibration of the models used was not described in detail. This paper presents the process of setting up the model, extensive calibration, validation and prediction of tidal currents for the Sunda Strait. A two-dimensional tidal-driven model is constructed using Delft3D, an open- source developed by Deltares. Four different bathymetry datasets, four different boundary condition configurations, and various bed roughness values are used, and their suitability in predicting tidal water level and current are investigated. It is found that changing the bathymetry and boundary conditions improve the model validation significantly. GEBCO_2019 bathymetry dataset outperforms the Batnas, even though it has a coarser resolution.

DAMMERMAN of the Buitenzorg Museum has sent me for Rrentification a collection of ants of peculiar interest, because they were taken during 1919-'21 on Krakatau and adjacent islands, which suffered so severely in the terrible volcanic eruption of 1883. During that catastrophe Krakatau, Verlaten and Lang Islands had their fauna and flora completely destroyed and even Sebesi, at a distance of 15 km. seems to have retained little if any part of its original biota 1). Within more recent years a study of the plants and animals that are gradually repeopling the islands has attracted a number of enthusiastic Dutch biologists. A full and interesting description of their labors and of the present fauna and flora have been published by W. DOCTERS VAN LEEUWEN and DAMMERMAN 2), so that I need not dwell on this aspect of the subject. Through the latter's courtesy, I reproduce his outline map of Sunda Strait, indicating for the specimens recorded in the following pages the localities and their distances from the shores of Java and Sumatra. Fifteen years ago JACOBSON 3) collected the ants on Krakatau, Verlaten and Lang Islands and the specimens were described by FOREL in a short paper published in 1909 4). I have included these records in my list and have appended a few general remarks suggested by a study of the materials collecter:! by Dr.
