World Premiere ABOUT THE ARTISTS At the outset of his career, baritone Teddy Tahu Rhodes was a finalist in the Kathleen Ferrier Award, performed in the Young Songmakers Almanac Concert Series in London, in the Salt Lake City International Concert Series, and in recital in Japan. He represented New Zealand in the 1999 Cardiff Singer of the World competition. Teddy has established an international career on both the opera stage and concert platform. He has performed with the opera companies of San Francisco, Austin, Washington, Philadelphia, Dallas, Cincinnati, Houston, New York, Vienna, the Hamburg Staatsoper, Bayerische Staatsoper (Munich), Theatre du Chatelet (Paris), Welsh National Opera and Scottish Opera. Awards include an ARIA, two Helpmann Awards, a Limelight Award, a Green Room Award plus a MO Award (Operatic Performer of the Year).
One of Australia's leading pianists, Kristian Chong has performed worldwide with performances finding him equally at home as a concerto soloist, chamber musician and recitalist. As a concerto soloist he has appeared with the Adelaide, Melbourne, Queensland, Sydney and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras, and orchestras in the U.K., New Zealand and China, with recent highlights including Rachmaninoff’s Paganini Rhapsody and Saint-Saëns's 2nd with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. ‘A true chamber musician at work’ (The Age), Kristian is highly sought after in collaborations including with the Tinalley and Australian String Quartets, violinists Dale Barltrop, Vadim Gluzman, Satu Vänskä and Sophie Rowell, cellist Li- Wei Qin, flautist Megan Sterling, violist Christopher Moore and clarinetists Michael Collins and Philip Arkinstall amongst many others. His festival appearances include the Australian Festival of Chamber Music, and the Adelaide, Huntington Estate, Mimir and Bangalow Festivals. Kristian studied at the Royal Academy of Music with Piers Lane AO and Christopher Elton, and with Stephen McIntyre AM at the University of Melbourne where Kristian teaches piano and chamber music.
