St. Ignace to Trout Lake Trail Lake Huron The 27-mile St. Ignace to Trout Lake Trail races along an abandoned stretch of the Duluth, Cheeseman South Shore & Atlantic Railroad through Hiawatha National Forest. Going north, the 75 gravel and limestone trail gradually gains 574 feet in elevation as it passes by picturesque Hay Gros Cap Chain Lake, several wetlands and the Carp River.
