3 Where to eat Madison is one of top cities in the country for restuarants per capita. Whether you want familiar food made with care and pride or a taste of something new, there are lots of choices that will please you. Here are a few ideas: New and new-ish If you’ve been coming to Madison for many years, you may have old favorites. If you want to branch out and fnd something new, here are some ideas—
• Canteen (hip spot for cocktails upscale tacos—downtown)
• Taiwan Little Eats (The sit-down version of Taiwanese street food—downtown)
• Long Table Beer Cafe (come for the incredible beer list, stay for the food. Commu- nal table seating—Middleton)
And it’s always a great idea to explore a new part of town. There are lots of choices in all corners of the area: downtown/campus, Williamson Street, Monroe Street, and Middleton all have a particular density of choices.
Local Institution—Concerts on the Square Wednesday evening sees the lawn of the state capitol taken over by live classical music by the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. Te event is free, although parking can be hard to fnd. Several street food vendors are on hand to provide nourish- ment.
