Devi Kroell 1818 1919 3.1 Phillip Lim

Fall 2008 is inspired by the imaginary question ‘what if ?’….. the love child of David Bowie’s stoic elegance as his character in the film, “The Man Who Fell To Earth”, paired with the freeform eccentricity of Stevie Nicks during her magical tenure with Fleetwood Mac, resulting in a mode of studied peculiarity with a slight manner of disregard. The mood is eccentric, brooding, mysterious and elegant.

Silent volumes – the idea of a quick glance, without a word " exchanged...and left with only thoughts to linger. - Phillip Lim"

2020 2121 Alexander Wang Azzaro

The Azzaro Fall/Winter 2008 ready to wear collection is mainly inspired by the houses iconic silhouettes: asymmetric dresses, marabout coats, Alexander Wang is drawn to anything slightly flawed, scratched, scuffed, draped tunics and strass crystals embroideries. Vanessa ripped, torn or dirty; embracing the flaws for both day and NIGHT. In fact, Seward’s leitmotiv of creating elegant and timeless for this season’s eveningwear, he drew inspiration from bad boys, rebels and silhouettes makes the theme “smoking” become an graffiti artists. evidence. For this collection, cocktail and evening dresses flirt with masculine shapes which “underline the feminity of the woman who is wearing them” says Azzaro’s creative director.

2222 2323 Balmain

It's more hard rock "and punk this season. - Christophe Decarnin"

2424 25 Behnaz Sarafpour

For this Fall 2008 collection, Behnaz Sarafpour continues to push her variety of fashion forward; her collections are the epitome of modern elegance and witty style. Her appreciation for innovative fabrics and exquisite, precise design are reflected in this new collection in a range of beautifully textured fabrics evoking Sonia Delaunay and her modern ouvre, such as a geometric lurex dress or a honeycomb wool dress.

26 26 2727 Bill Blass

Peter Som's debut collection for Bill Blass - Fall 2008 - is a stellar mix of luxurious opposites with men's wear inspired pieces and looks that easily translate from day to evening. Inspired by the "sense of ease," the collection features crisp tailored suiting, floral confetti and feather embroideries, and luxurious eveningwear. Peter’s mindful consideration for the Bill Blass legacy and fresh, effortless approach to American has taken the house to a modern level, attracting both traditional and new customers alike.

This is the quintessential Blass mix " of feminine exuberance and crisp clean menswear attitude. Modern for the modern woman. -Peter Som "

Bodyamr has an attitude that would make " Helmut Newton proud. -Harpers" Bazaar

3030 3131 Bruno Frisoni

A very sexy and luxurious collection "with satin frills, refined suede and rich velvet. The colours are deep and subtle. The luxury of this collection is not in what you see but in what you feel. - Bruno "Frisoni 3232 3333 Carolina Herrera

The Carolina Herrera Fall 2008 collection was inspired by the countryside. The ease and sophistication of the outdoors. A riding jacket you grab from the mudroom over a crinkle chiffon gown for an elegant dinner on the farm. Oatmeal brown, China blue, Lemon-drop yellow; colors borrowed from a fall landscape. Layering masculine tweeds, double faced cashmere, window pane châles and Shetland wools on top of chiffon print shirts, vests, and riding pants. The city life left behind.

3434 3535 Catherine Deane

She walks along the river wide Her gossamer skirts trailing beside With flowers in her hair and stars in her eyes This is her moment to shine

Sunlight peers through volumes and drapes Gathers and tucks, and sensual shapes That whisper of a time once told A story in her heart she holds

A vision as goddess , brave and strong Still peace follows her all along Her heart opens like a flower in full bloom To fill the empty spaces with truth

She delights in the earth beneath her feet And the silk on her skin, a smile there to meet Such blessings she counts every day As she feels joy in living life all the way

- Catherine Deane

3636 3737 Catherine Malandrino

In her Fall/Winter 2008 collection, Catherine Malandrino evokes the sensuality of the Mediterranean coast. A European revelry melts into prints reminiscent of mosaic and murano glass. An organic palette of pomegranate, herb, and lava is tempered by deep grey and all shades of greens to khaki. Bold cashmere, striped knit, silk jersey, wool jacquard and silk chiffon are linked to glove leather. A high-waisted pencil skirt paired with a mini sweater and a micro jacket are a statement of sleek sophistication, while a long sleeve shirt dress in silk satin, printed chiffon and wool gauze is a new day dress. Emphasis is placed on the shoulder through draping, long sleeves and bijoux embellishments. True to her Murano inspiration, Catherine Malandrino’s collection illustrates the full range of refined sensibilities for a sensuous, polished and opulent fall silhouette.

3838 3939 Christian Louboutin

Very very high heels is the spirit of the next winter " collection for a woman fragile and strong, strong but funny, funny but sexy, sexy and fragile!

- Christian Louboutin"

4040 4141 Collette Dinnigan

A battalion of skinny pants, military trousers, jackets with gilded adornments. Androgynous dressing; masculine evening suits, sculptured jackets, slinky silhouettes, pencil skirts of quilted satin. Deluxe lace overlays create mystery over the predominately black palette. The vision is decadent; it’s dark with an armored feel coupled with silver hues and darker shades making Midnight in Moscow a luxury self indulgence. The beat is strong, the rhythm constant. . . Last night I dreamed a magical night circus.

4242 4343 David Szeto

In the Mood for Love, Wong Kar-Wai's film was the starting point for the collection. "The stillness, the colours and the silence of the film inspired the overall colour palette, romantism, and restrain in the silhouettes. " - David Szeto

4444 4545 Derek Lam

For the past several months, I have been reading Judith Thurman’s biography of "Isak Dinesen. Her legacy, along with her work, is also her story, which tells of a person both divided and dignified. 100 years later, her dualities resonate deeply with me and serve as inspiration for this collection: contemporary beauty is wisdom, experience, and the knowledge that a deeper life can embrace contradiction. " - Derek Lam

4646 4747 Devi Kroell

The Devi Kroell Fall 2008 accessories collection is an expansion upon the traits the designer is known for. The classic is still the foundation of the shoe line but now it has a stacked heel and mixed skins. The hobo bag is still the classic style but the fashion bags have become more refined and structured. The whole collection has an underlying hint of art and sculpture while remaining timeless and chic.

4848 4949 Elie Saab

When abstraction becomes a woman… On the television, the snow makes some space to TV test card: a multicolor image, emblem of the eighties, stands out, affixed on the designs of the Fall – Winter 2008 collection. Graphic oracle, the woman of Elie Saab moves forward, a timeless Muse going out from the atelier of Piet Mondrian. Draped in diaphanous muslin, georgette and silk crepe, her willowy figure lays down her kaleidoscopic accents, after the geometrical compositions of the movement master De Stijl. Streaked and squared, the designs stand out; elegantly hypnotic, they recall us to their oblique lines and black and white stripes. An abstraction becoming sensuous thanks to the flows of materials, the patterns running all over the collection: optical illusions with pixel effects, an avant-gardist breathe lights up the passageway.

5050 5151 Elie Saab

5252 5353 Erdem

It was about what felt right for now – that "is, an optimistic celebration. And I wanted to portray a delicate, light-handed decadence. -Erdem Moralioglu"

5454 5555 Giambattista Valli

The Fall 2008 ready-to-wear range proved to be an abundance of fur, luxurious fabrics loaded with frills and bold floral patterns. Inspired from Ingmar Bergman's "Cries and Whispers", the surrealist artist Meret Oppenheim and "Little Red Riding Hood".

5656 5757 Giles

This collection is based on a horror movie - The Masque " of The Red Death - of people partying in a castle with people dying outside - femme fatale in a gothic disco. - Giles Deacon "

5858 5959 Halston

The name Halston has always been synonymous with luxury and simplicity. For Fall 2008, creative director Marco Zanini expands on these ideals with a modern approach.

The collection is built on the foundation of the innate confidence of a woman. Each piece plays on a present-day version of the iconic and timeless House. Halston staples, such as simple skirts and blouses, ultra stylish shirtdresses, and evening dresses made of Italian cashmeres and French , are evident from day to night. Zanini pays attention to the tiniest detail, executing the highest quality Italian finish in each hem, seam, and buttonhole in each piece.

6060 6161 Hervé Léger For Fall 2008, linear designs and hand painted effects recall the sweeping brushstrokes of Pierre Soulages. New uses of color breathe Iife into signature bandage dresses, giving a youthful edge to elegant sophistication. Impeccable craftsmanship and hand placed embellishments present the techniques of the celebrated French house. Feather headpieces and delicate hand beaded mesh gloves evoke a feeling of romanticism. Her spirit lives inside every woman, radiating a powerful modern femininity.

6262 6363 Issa

If Empress Josephine, Marie Antoinette and Elizabeth 1, the great vanguard women of history, hit the glossy streets of the 21st century they would be doing it in Issa. For Autumn/Winter 2008 the collection draws its inspiration from the heroines of the past who were quite simply: Women of Impact. Those with the flair and magnetism to light up a room, cause a fashion stir and keep a sense of mystery and intrigue without having to utter a single syllable. In short - Pure Issa Women. And whilst the inspiration may be the Wild Child women of the past, the fresh mood is one of 1970s flair.

6464 6565 Lela Rose

For her Fall 2008 Collection, Lela Rose focuses on the venturesome woman characterized by modern agility. Parkas and turned-out tracksuits in vibrant colors, the collection for day is “Susie Chapstick” meets Park Avenue. Outerwear shapes are recast in luxurious fabrics and colors of mallard green, cardinal red, and goldfinch; a vivid/ sophisticated palate not usually seen as “sport”. Gamesome cocktail is carried into night and mixed with the rock star glamour of a young Jerry Hall. High collars and ruffled extravagances temper a rock and roll edge.

6666 6767 Luisa Beccaria

The delicate, sexy and sensitive creations of Luisa Beccaria are a tribute to the poetic and contemporary female archetype. Airy, voluminous silhouettes are futuristic and sartorially constructed.

Iconographic motifs remit to Whistler and the languid images of Sarah Moon, inviting one to dream, play and seduce. The palette is pale with touches of gold, inspired by her recent travels to Rajasthan.

6868 6969 Malandrino

Referring to the work of the sculptors Claude and François-Xavier Lallane, Catherine Malandrino was inspired by the color palette of an enchanted domain. From shades of artichaud, nenuphar, cedar, maples and with new textures of organza foliage, moiré taffeta and fragments of broken glass embroideries, nature is brought into human shapes. Nylon scallops rolling after each other and taffeta petals are reminiscent of an alive landscape.

You can almost hear the wind whispering...

7070 7171 Matthew Williamson

The Matthew Williamson Fall Winter 2008 collection draws its inspiration from the idea of an English rose whose heritage stems from the rambling estates of the British countryside. Her dress references elements of the antique teamed with a nostalgic love of nature, woodlands and local crafts. Her silhouette and elements of tailoring translate a darker more urban expression of drama.

7272 73 Naeem Khan

For Fall, the Naeem Khan woman will unlock an exotic jewel box of carefully " collected global treasures. The mood is decadent and luxurious, but elegant, informed by transcontinental glamour and modern sophistication. - Naeem Khan "

7474 7575 Oscar de la Renta

The highlights of Prefall and Fall were Jewel colors (Amethysts, Topaz, Malachite...)

Bold floral prints...

7676 7777 Oscar de la Renta

7878 7979 Peter Som

For Fall 2008 I was inspired by the offbeat quirkiness of " Diane Arbus photographs imagined in color juxtaposed with the impeccable artistic direction of the show Mad Men. I was struck by Arbus images of girls in Washington Square Park in the early 1960’s and the certain attitude and oddness they exuded. Imagine a girl with the same off-kilter sensibility today injecting an eccentric ease into her wardrobe. - Peter Som"

8080 8181 Proenza Schouler

Fall/Winter 08 aims at stripping away elements of artifice and focusing on purely formal issues. A certain “reductionary” approach is key. By no means minimal, this exercise in reduction is explored through the concept of seamless clothing inspired by the innocence of paper airplanes. Exposed constructions feel essential not decorative. X-ray imagery has been subverted into prints. Fragile, tactile textures were designed to evoke a certain warmness, a kind of gentility and warmness. The bark of a birch tree has been developed into a textile. The need to simplify by exposing something within, while not exposing oneself at all, is a central contradiction in our ongoing exploration of contrasts.

8282 8383 Reem Acra

Reem Acra’s Fall 2008 collection represents confidence, modern luxury, and a global sense of belonging. Jewel tones such as midnight blue, aubergine, mustard and forest green are complimented by metallic neutrals and chocolate brown. Beautifully constructed gowns, ranging from simple and elegant to ornate and embellished, blend classic tailoring with modern sensibility and feature signature elements of the designer’s culturally diverse aesthetic such as the use of lush fabrics, intricate hand- beading and embroidery and fluid draping. With her Fall 2008 collection, Reem carries you away to her mysterious and indefinable world.

8484 8585 RM by Roland Mouret

For me this season style is much more than colour, skirt length and shape. To " be truly stylish is about an intelligent and respectful approach to the clothes, about understanding and celebrating the process of how they are created. - Roland Mouret "

8686 8787 Sari Gueron

Japanese floral prints, voluminous petticoats, mixed with " vintage lace, distressed leather. - Sari Gueron"

8888 8989 Sass & Bide

Vintage wooden beads threaded onto a faded blue string make up the bracelet that is the inspiration for ‘Rainbows for Kate’. Each colored bead honors the significance of friendship, compassion, love & understanding, and of life; a celebration of life.

9090 9191 Temperley London

The Autumn/Winter 2008 Collection weaves an exotic web of mystery, intrigue and opulence, inspired by the notoriously bewitching spy of the early 1900’s - Mata Hari. Luxuriously and unashamedly dripping with jewels, Mata Hari’s outfits were a stark contrast to the military era of the time. She was an icon of her time and continues to fascinate to the present day.

9292 9393 The Row

The inspiration for F/W was old movie sirens like Dietrich, Davis, and Hepburn. Women who were strong, confident and feminine but, had a slight masculine edge to them.

9494 9595 Tracy Reese

Tracy Reese impels energy and movement in the midst of a dramatic collection for Fall 2008. Life is aroused by a beautiful mélange of mixed media, while pieces maintain a chic wearability. Minimalist styles take on a new dimension, and tech fabrics mix with natural fibers to create the perfect blend of modern and relaxed. In a collection charged with the forces of nature, the beauty of art, and the power of abstraction, Tracy Reese presents a sophistication this season that electrifies.

9696 9797 Twinkle

Wenlan Chia explores new realms for Fall 2008 -- borrowing from the best of menswear and transforming it into feminine sporty look --all with her own signature Twinkle twist. The collection captures a new mood and attitude for the Twinkle girl as she adopts a cleaner, simpler, more uniform silhouette that reflects a modern day Victor Victoria attitude.

9898 9999 Vanessa Bruno

For her Autumn/Winter 2008/2009 collection, Vanessa Bruno works with fabrics and shapes as well as with colours which seem to focus on deepest nature: the shades of the wings of a butterfly at night, the light of a lunar landscape, the translucent frost of a winter plain or the discovery of a virgin land. Hues are delicate and muted, and the palette is reminiscent of the chalky watercolours of the artist Marlène Dumas. A monochrome of opalescent white, paginated by time with powdered or rosewood shades, veers towards an orangey spectrum. A green harmony is strongly present: grey-cast khakis, verdigris, ivy, or with a subtle turquoise tinge.

100100 101101 Vera Wang

The Vera Wang Fall Winter 2008 Collection represents a measured study in color, texture, silhouette and proportions so playfully depicted in the sophisticated “social” portraits of Dutch artist Kees van Dongen. From his striking color palette, which ranges from all manner of charcoal-blacks, to mélanges of shades that frequently border on “neon”, his paintings celebrate his love of fashion, his love for women, and his passion for “la vie mondaine”.

102102 103103 Vera Wang Lavender

This season, for our first formal presentation, 2008 Fall/Winter "Lavender Label draws artistic inspiration from the Chinese cult film “In the Mood for Love”, a mysterious and beautiful tale about strangers and unrequited love. Although the location and period of the film allude to Shanghai in the early 1960’s, it is the restrained sensuality and sophistication of the characters and clothes that captured my imagination; and, while there is nothing literal or vintage about this collection, it does for me, represent a new kind of graceful sexiness. " - Vera Wang

104104 105105 Zac Posen

I’m inspired by female forces in pop culture "from Olive Oyl to Madeline to Gloria Steinem. We are playing with constructions of transparency and color, trompe l’oeil texture, and forms that float from the body. Our heroine loves to combine function and fantasy in her wardrobe. " - Zac Posen
