FARE DEALS ON ROUTES 84/84A AND 242 Single and day return fares Adult single fares range from around £1.30 to £6.00 depending upon distance and area. Special £1 single fares are available between some central stops (including the City Station) on routes 84/84A and between Brookfield Lane (White Horse) and the Brookfield Centre on route 242. Day return fares are available for all single fare values at approximately one-and-a-half times the single fare, so saving around 25% compared with two single fares. (Please note that day return fares are not available on route 242 before 0900 on Mondays to Fridays). Concessionary travel Holders of English National Concessionary Travel elderly and disabled persons’ passes issued by County Council may travel free at any time on production of the valid pass. Time restrictions apply to other authorities’ ENTC passes and to the Boroughs’ Freedom passes. Children’s fares Children and students are able to travel at reduced fares (normally about half the adult rate), under the following age conditions, for single, day return and period tickets: ••• Under 5 yrs - free (maximum of 2 children, accompanied by a fare paying passenger); ••• Age 5 and under 14 - child fare; ••• Age 14 and under 19 - child fare if showing a valid Hertfordshire Saver Card , obtainable from Hertfordshire County Council subject to conditions , see www.hertsdirect.org/savercard ••• Age 14 and under 16: child fare if showing a valid child rate Zip/Oyster photocard , obtainable from subject to conditions, see www.tfl.gov.uk ; This card can only be used to obtain a child fare on Routes 84/A only, provided one end of the journey starts or finishes within ( Station – Hadley Highstone). Scholars ’ season tickets are available at a discount for periods of half a school term: (1) ‘Rover’ giving unlimited travel throughout routes 84/84A and 242*; or (2) ‘Colney’ giving unlimited travel on routes 84/84A between Colney Fields Retail Park and St Albans (City Centre/Townsend/Girls’ Schools).
