Orpik will become the 330th all-time player, 114th defenseman and 22nd active player to play in 1,000 NHL games. This season, Orpik has recorded three points (2g, 1a) in 17 games. Orpik leads Capitals defensemen in hits per game (2.9) and shorthanded time on ice per game (3:19). TOP FIVE CAPS FACTS Great 8 - Alex Ovechkin leads the NHL with 32 goals this season as he aims to break a tie with Hull for the most seasons as the NHL’s goal-scoring leader. Both have led the League in goals on seven occasions. Ovechkin is now two goals shy of passing Dave Andreychuk (640) for 14th place on the NHL's all-time scoring list. Among the top 20 goal scorers all-time, Ovechkin's 0.61 goals per game ranks second (Mario Lemieux: 0.75 goals per game). Ovechkin, who is already the all-time goal scorer among Russian-born players, is now eight points away from passing Sergei Fedorov (483g, 696a in 1,248 games) to become the highest scoring Russian- born player all-time. Thomas Vanek (Austria), Frans Nielsen (Denmark), Antoine Roussel (France), Mats Zuccarello (Norway) and Anze Kopitar (Slovenia) are the only active players to lead their respective countries in points.

Kuz Control - With the goaltender pulled against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday, Evgeny Kuznetsov tied the game with his eighth goal of the season with 1:06 remaining in the third period. That marked the second time this season the Capitals have recorded a game-tying goal with an extra man (Nicklas Backstrom: Oct. 19 versus the ). Kuznetsov recently became the eighth player to debut with the Capitals franchise and record his 300th point in 375 games or fewer with the club, a list that includes current teammates Alex Ovechkin (237 games) and Nicklas Backstrom (293 games), and the 25th player in franchise history to reach the mark. Kuznetsov’s 0.76 assists per game this season (29 assists in 38 games) ranks third on the team. Among active players with at least 300 games played, Kuznetsov’s career 0.57 assists per game rate is tied for 12th, and his 2.03 assists per 60 minutes of play are tied for sixth. The Capitals are one of only two teams in the NHL with two active players that average over two assists per 60 minutes of play (Backstrom: 2.20; Pittsburgh’s and Evgeni Malkin: 2.22 and 2.11, respectively) with at least 300 games of NHL experience.

Holtbeast - Since Nov. 4, Holtby has stopped 494 of the 526 shots he's faced at even strength (.939 save percentage), the highest save percentage among all goaltenders with at least 13 games played during that time frame. Holtby is now eight games shy of 400 career games to become the second goaltender in franchise history to reach the mark (Olie Kolzig: 711 games). Since entering the NHL in 2010, Holtby's 242 wins are the fifth most in the NHL, despite being the only goaltender ranked in the top 15 with fewer than 400 games played. Familiar Faces - Five former St. Louis Blues are now apart of the Washington Capitals. T.J. Oshie was selected by the Blues with the 24th overall pick in the 2005 NHL Draft. Oshie played in 443 games for the Blues, and his 310 points (110g, 200a) rank 20th in franchise history. The Capitals traded for Oshie on July 2, 2015 in exchange for , Pheonix Copley and a 2016 third round pick. Lars Eller was selected by St. Louis, 13th overall, in the 2007 NHL Draft. Eller made his NHL debut on Nov. 5, 2009, scoring a goal. Eller played in seven games with the Blues before he was traded to the on June 17, 2010.
