ONE DAY TEAM CAMP: June 25 This one-day team camp will be held at Koehler Fieldhouse on Friday, June 25. Teams will receive coaching on both offensive and defensive team fundamentals and play several games to go along with practice sessions. Cost is $320 per team. Justin Potts enters his eighth season as the top assistant coach at East Stroudsburg UniversityUniversity. Potts has served alongside Jeff Wilson since Wilson was named head coach prior to the 2002-03 season. He has been ESU’s recruiting coordinator since arriving on campus and has been instrumental in helping the Warriors return to the top of the PSAC East standings. ESU made three straight playoff appearances for the fi rst time in more than a decade from 2006-08, and has won 68 games over the last four seasons. In addition to his duties as recruiting coordinator, Potts assists with player development and scouting. He has coached All-PSAC East selections Rich Baker, Anthony Ross, Danny Hargrove, Darron Bradley, Chris Bach and Channon Easley and also serves as the co-director of Warrior Basketball camps. Prior to joining Wilson on the sidelines at ESU, Potts served as an assistant coach at Moravian College, his alma mater, where his responsibilities included recruiting and summer camps. Potts graduated from Moravian in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in English, and earned his master’s degree in Exercise Science from ESU in the summer of 2007. Potts resides in Northampton, Pa. with his wife, Caroline. Coach Wilson on Justin Potts “Coach Potts has been a major contributor to the turnaround of the ESU basketball program. Jay Garrels joins the Warriors’ men’s basketball program as the graduate assistant coach for the 2009-2010 season. His primary responsibilities include fi lm exchange of all opponents, coordinating opponents’ scouting, community service, alumni relations and newsletters, day camp assistant director, academic development and monitoring of study halls, student-athlete recruitment, practice and game planning. Prior to his arrival at ESU, Garrels was the head basketball coach at the Storm King School in Cornwall-on- Hudson, N.Y. After taking over a 1-15 squad, Garrels led his squad to consecutive winning seasons and earned two playoff berths. He also served as the school’s Assistant Dean of Students and Dean of Residential Life, and taught American Government and Geometry. Garrels played high school basketball at in Blairstown, N.J. for ESU alumnus Joe Mantegna, and played alongside current NBA stars , Charlie Villanueva and Royal Ivey. He is currently pursuing his Master’s Degree in Exercise Science.
