Pedestrian Flag Program Sausalito Village and Age Friendly Sausalito partnered to create the Pedestrian Flag Program in 2016 targeting three of the most dangerous intersections along our main street. Volunteer monitors construct the bright orange flags that are in buckets at the following crosswalks: Second/Main Streets, Santa Rosa/Bridgeway Streets and Litho/Bridgeway Streets. The flags are a simple solution to act as an assistive device to help make walkers more noticeable as they cross the street. Of course, it is still important for pedestrians to cross with caution. Edgewater Seniors The Edgewater Seniors Club has been meeting for over 40 years and many of the members are long-time residents of Sausalito. The Club provides opportunities for seniors to create friendships and share experiences through day trips and social gatherings. Members receive 25% discount on monthly trips. Details of trips (cost, sign-up information and times) are available in the Club’s monthly newsletter. Eligible members are at least 55 years of age and pay annual membership dues of $15 at the beginning of each year. Regular meetings take place on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month. The 1st Tuesday meeting is a business meeting for members to discuss issues and plan upcoming events and activities. The 2nd meeting of the month is a social gathering for activities and birthday celebrations. These bag lunch meetings begin at 11am in the Edgewater Room on the first floor of City Hall, 420 Litho Street, Sausalito. At the end of each day, the students return to their host families to spend some quality time together, usually over home cooked

Importance of our Continued Involvement Our Sausalito/VDM connection is a very important global link for AGEP. Time and time again it was expressed how important the 7/7/7 women mentoring program is to open the eyes of these business women, to show them expanded ways of thinking, business insights and to experience life in the USA.The women who have experienced this USA exchange are returning to Chile and raising the bar for other AGEP members—sharing the concepts of women empowerment and self-sufficiency. As President of the Sausalito Woman’s Club, I have dedicated my year Sausalito Woman’s Club to raising funds—just as they did 100 years ago—to keep Sausalito’s #1 June 2, 2:30-5pm Historical Site and National Register of Historical Places in good repair. Our goal is $100,000 to commemorate 100 years on Central Avenue, and as of December 31 we are more than halfway there. On Sunday, April 7, we will host a community party to celebrate the Clubhouse Centennial and close out our campaign. Ensuring attractive landscapes is not our only aim—sustainability, resilience and adapting to climate change also drive our vision. You may notice new trees planted on Caledonia Street and Downtown Bridgeway, new succulents at the Post Office, and weed-free beds at Tiffany Park—all due to your neighbors and Sausalito Beautiful.

Join Green Thumbs One of the easiest ways to get involved with Sausalito Beautiful is through Green Thumbs, volunteers who help to keep our public spaces looking their best. Whether it’s weeding, mulching, planting or pruning, you are sure to enjoy both working alongside your neighbors and having the satisfaction of making our city shine! Join Scriba, our fearless leader, from 9-12am on one Saturday a month (April-Oct). No long- term commitment, just come when you can. The first Green Thumbs Day of 2019 will be Saturday, April 6th (rescheduled if it rains). DID YOU KNOW? The Sausalito Chamber of Commerce is a 501 (c) 6 nonprofit organization. While we work closely with the city to help promote, sustain and grow our community we are not a civic organization or an arm of the City of Sausalito. The chamber is funded by members that pay dues; typically a business, organization, association, club or individual that supports our mission statement and recognizes the benefits of being a member. The Board of Directors is composed of twelve members that donate their time and effort for the benefit of the community. These directors usually serve a three year term. Over the past five years, the Sausalito Chamber of Commerce has staffed the Visitors Kiosk with Chamber Members sponsoring over $65,000 of the cost and the Chamber contributing over $35,000. This funding covers paid kiosk staff, free WiFi for visitors & the community, Visit Sausalito website hosting and maintenance. Funds come from chamber membership and fundraising events each year.
