Democrats swept the western Clinton “Wain” Taylor suburbs. The democrat vote by mail program appears to be the huge Mac-Weld, Inc., Carbondale wave that will expand the House Democrats to a super majority status (71 plus) and the Senate Democrats to build upon their super Carolyn Johnson majority from 37-22 to 40-19. It appears that the Libertarian and Conservative Party candidates hurt Governor Rauner’s 2018 totals but were not the factor feared. Combined the two parties received approximately 7%. If there is a silver lining to the republican election debacle, it would be that Conservative party gubernatorial candidate Sen. Sam McCann failed to receive 5%.
