● Family Medicine - 12 weeks ○ Surrey or Langley Community ○ All R1s start on FM for 4 weeks and the remaining 8 weeks are spread across the rest of the year ○ Full day call-back every 1st, 3rd and 5th Thursday ● Obstetrics and Gynecology - 8 weeks ○ High volume obstetrics - low and high risk with GPs and OBs ○ Clinics - prenatal visits, gyne consults, infertility, MFM, Diabetes in pregnancy, etc. ○ 1:4 24-hour call ● Pediatrics - 6 weeks ○ 4 weeks in hospital - inpatient ward, outpatient consults in teaching clinic, newborn exams, ER consults ■ 2 days of outpatient community clinic exposure ■ 1:4 24-hour call ○ 2 weeks in BCCH ER Detailed Look: R1 Curriculum

● Emergency Medicine - 4 weeks ○ Surrey Memorial, Delta or Peace Arch Hospital ○ 14-15x 8-hour shifts, 2x 8-hour shifts on Peds ER ● General Surgery - 4 weeks ○ Clinic, consults and OR - “choose your own adventure” ○ Clinics - Lumps & Bumps, Breast Health, Urology, Wound care, etc. ○ 1:4 call until 11PM ● MSK/Ortho - 2 weeks ○ Clinic, consults and OR ○ Clinics: cast clinic, joint injections, back pain, knee clinic, etc. ○ 2 call shifts until 11PM Detailed Look: R1 Curriculum

● Palliative Care - 4 weeks ○ Surrey Memorial, Langley Memorial or Delta Hospital ○ High acuity symptom management, ER and inpatient consults, hospice and community care ○ No call or weekend shifts ● Hospitalist - 4 weeks ○ Comprehensive service - admits, inpatient wards, discharges ○ 2 evening shifts until 11PM, 2 overnight shifts with R2 buddy ● Infectious Disease - 2 weeks ○ Consulting service - ER and inpatient ○ No call or weekend shifts ● Addictions- 2 weeks ○ Inpatient consults ○ No evening or Detailed Look: R1 Curriculum

● IM Consults - 2 weeks ○ Consulting service - ER and inpatient ○ No call or weekend shifts ● Cardiology - 1 week ○ Inpatient rounding on new CCU, ER and inpatient consults, clinics ○ Clinics - Heart Function, Heart Failure, Lipids, Cardiac Rehab etc. ○ No call or weekend shifts ● Neurology - 1 week ○ Clinics and consults ○ Clinics - Movement Disorders, Headache, Stroke, Neuro-Ophthalmology, etc. ○ No call or weekend shifts ● Nephrology - 1 week R2 Curriculum

● Family Medicine - 16 weeks ● Psychiatry - 4 weeks ● Rural Medicine - 8 (to 16) weeks ● Geriatric Medicine - 2 weeks ● Hospitalist-CTU - 4 weeks ● Endocrinology - 2 weeks ● Electives - 12 weeks ● Global Health - 4 weeks Detailed Look: R2 Curriculum

● Family Medicine - 16 weeks ○ Same preceptor as R1 year (opportunities to alternate / change clinics in R2 year if requested) ○ Longitudinal opportunities based on personal learning objectives - 2 half days per week ○ Residential care exposure ○ Full day call-back every 1st, 3rd and 5th Thursday of every block ● Rural Family Medicine - 8 weeks ○ Can opt to do enhanced rural rotations (16 weeks) if interested in rural FM ● Hospitalist-CTU - 4 weeks ○ Goal is to increase comfort in managing 10 to 14 acute medical patients ○ Teaching opportunities with med students rotating through ○ 4 overnight calls: 2 calls 1:1 with preceptor, 2 calls with R1 buddy Detailed Look: R2 Curriculum

● Psychiatry - 4 weeks ○ Surrey Memorial or Peace Arch Hospital ○ Inpatient ward and Psych ER, outpatient clinics ○ Call until 11PM ● Geriatrics - 4 weeks ○ Outpatient clinic ○ No call or weekend shifts ● Global Health - 4 weeks ○ Choose from a variety of experiences - Aboriginal health, Addictions, HIV/HCV, New Canadian Clinics, Prison Health, Maxxine Wright Community Health Centre, Population and Public Health research ○ International electives can be arranged (but start early!) ● Electives - 12 weeks ○ 4 weeks maximum OOP or International ○ Distributed throughout the R2 year ● Longitudinal Hospitalist Call ○ Scheduled for 8-Hospitalist evening shifts until 11PM throughout the year during FM rotations and non-call rotations (except rural) ○ First call for ward issues on all admitted hospitalist patients ○ Hospitalist staff are in-house during this shift for backup Our Surrey Family...
