John Bergeron is the 2010 recipient of the Human Proteome Organization (HUPO) Discovery Award in Proteomics Siences.

Sasha Bernatsky has been selected as the recipient of the Mary Betty Stevens Young Investigator Prize of the Lupus Foundation of America.

The Richard and Sylvia Cruess Chair in Medical Education has been created.

Mark Eisenberg has published his book, The Physician Scientist's Career Guide.

David Goltzman received the Ronald V. Christie Award of the Canadian Association of Professors of Medicine.

Mark Wainberg has been awarded with the Prix Wilder-Penfield in biomedical sciences. He also received an Honorary Doctorate from University of Montreal.

Michelle Elizov has been presented with the Faculty Honour for Educational Excellence Award.

George Ghattas and the RVH Endoscopy Unit received the CAG Quality Endoscopy Award.

Jacques Genest has been awarded the 2010 inaugural Margolese National Heart Disorders Prize by the UBC.

J.A. Peter Paré received the distinguished Achievement Award from the American Thoracic Society.

Qutayba Hamid is this years's Distinguished Lecturer in Respiratory Sciences by the CIHR's Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Medicine and the Canadian Thoracic Society.

Ariane Marelli is the 2011 recipient of the Heart Heroes Award by the Adult Congenital Heart Association.

Lucy Opatrny has been elected to the Board of Directors of the FMSQ.

Louise Pilote received the 2011 George Fraser Award.

Michael Rasminsky has been selected for the CAME 2011 Certificate of Merit.

Mathieu Walker is the recipient of the Osler Award.

Errol Marliss has been named Fellow of the American Society for Nutrition.

The JGH Department of Medicine Staff and Residents Awards Year-End Party took place on June 10, 2010. The recipients will be announced shortly.

Dave Feder Award: Presented to the resident who most practices medicine with compassion and sensitivity. Displays kindness, respect and camaraderie towards colleagues and educators. Carries a positive outlook enabling him/her to enjoy a meaningful balanced life beyond his/her profession. Awarded to: Dr. Andrea Kermack

Sheldon Zemelman Memorial Award: For academic excellence and outstanding contribution to patient care. Awarded to: Dr. Deborah Assayag

Dr. Allen Spanier Internal Medicine Award: To the resident who exhibits an enduring passion for the practice of medicine. Through the enjoyment of solving the challenges of patient care and sharing the solutions with others, while maintaining a high level of professionalism, he has been chosen as the individual who best embodies the unique legacy of Dr. Allen Spanier.
