MENSAJE PRESIDENCIAL

Estimados Senadores Concluye el año 2020, año conflictivo lleno de sorpresas y enseñanzas. Año inolvidable que pasara a la historia como el año que nos enseñó a empezar, nos enseñó a nave- gar en mares desconocidos, nos hizo cambiar todos nuestros planes y nuestra forma de actuar, ha dado paso a una nueva etapa en nuestras vidas y en nuestras instituciones, debido a una pandemia desconocida que sorprendió y paralizo al mundo, creando crisis económica hasta en las mayores po- tencias. Debido a la mencionada pandemia del Covid-19, la JCI no pudo realizar, ninguna de las Conferencias de Área, ni el Congreso Mundial en forma presencial, por la misma razón se nos hizo imposible realizar en forma presencial nuestra Asamblea General y nuestro emocionante Encuentro de Senadores en “Trinidad y Tobago 2020” donde compartiríamos abrazos y experiencias Pero esta pandemia no nos detuvo. Nos dio la oportunidad de reinventarnos y nos enseñó a empezar de nuevo Nos reactivarnos de tal manera que hemos realizado un intensivo trabajo, en forma virtual, cuyos resultados han sido extraordinarios Pudimos realizar nuestra asamblea general donde se nos extendió nuestro periodo de gestión hasta la conferencia JCI 2021 Hemos realizado 15 reuniones virtuales de la junta directiva ASAC Hemos publicado 8 Boletines, gracias a nuestra directora Esperanza García. Actualizamos nuestro plan de acción, realizando una actualización de resultados y estamos en proceso final de la elaboración del plan estratégico a largo alcance 2021-2025. Estamos en proceso de modificación estatutaria para adaptar nuestras reglas y políticas a los momen- tos actuales. Actualizamos nuestra política de comunicación Reactivamos nuestros medios sociales de Facebook e Instagram que se encontraban bloqueados por mucho tiempo. Celebramos con mucho éxito, por primera vez en la historia de ASAC, el día internacional del Senador JCI. Participamos representando a ASAC en la Conferencia virtual JCI 2020 Participamos en todas las convenciones nacionales de los Senados miembros de ASAC Participamos activamente en el Congreso Mundial JCI 2020 y en la reunión conjunta de asociaciones de senadores del mundo. Participamos en reuniones regionales por medio de las cuales se definió el posible cambio de nombre de ASAC Logramos la registración legal de ASAC como una organización sin ánimo de lucro, en Estados Uni- dos, con su número de identificación federal, exenta de pago de impuestos, lo que nos ha permitido manejar nuestros fondos, recibir ingresos y pagar nuestras obligaciones electrónicamente a través de una cuenta de cheques, lo que resolvió el engorroso problema del manejo de fondos en efectivo y en cuentas personales de los tesoreros. Hemos podido mantener una constante comunicación con los miembros de nuestra junta directiva y con los senados miembros de ASAC, lo que nos ha permitido estrechar más las relaciones de nuestros senadores hermanos provenientes de diferentes países multilingües y multiculturales Pidamos a Dios el eterno Descanso de los fallecidos, La pronta recuperación a los que hoy están afectados por el virus del Covid-19 Y demos gracias, los que nos hemos mantenido sanos. Deseo de todo Corazón que terminemos nuestro año 2020 e iniciemos el año 2021 sanos, en paz, con armonía y amor con nuestras queridas familias, sigamos cuidándonos y preparándonos para los nue- vos retos que nos traerá el próximo 2021, y que pongamos en práctica una vez más, nuestra experien- cia, sabiduría y nuestra capacidad de trabajo en favor de nuestros jóvenes ciudadanos activos JCI y en el fortalecimiento de nuestra institución ASAC. Que todos pasemos una muy feliz Navidad y un Prospero año 2021.

Dear Senators

The year 2020 concludes, a conflicting year full of surprises and teachings An unforgettable year that goes into history as the year that knew us to start, I teaching us to sail in uncharted seas, it made us change all our plans and our way of acting, has given way to a new stage in our lives and in our institutions, due to an unknown pandemic that surprised and paralyzed the world, creating economic crisis even in the greatest powers Due to the aforementioned Covid-19 pandemic, the JCI was unable to hold, in person, any of the conferences or the world congress, for the same reason it became impossible for us to hold our General Assembly and our exciting meeting of Senators “Trinidad and Tobago 2020” where we would share hugs and experiences But this pandemic didn't stop us. It gave us the opportunity to reinvent ourselves and I teaching us to start over We reactivate ourselves in such a way that we have done intensive work, in a virtual way, whose results have been extraordinary We were able to hold our general assembly where our management period was extended to the JCI 2021 conference We have held 15 virtual meetings of the ASAC board of directors We have published 8 Newsletters, thanks to our director Esperanza Garcia We update our action plan, performing a result update and are in the final process of developing the long- range strategic plan 2021-2025 We are in the process of bylaws modification to adapt our rules and policies to the current moments We've updated our communication policy We reactivated our Facebook and Instagram social media that were blocked for a long time We celebrate with great success, for the first time in the history of ASAC, the international day of Senator JCI We participate representing ASAC at the JCI 2020 Virtual Conference We participate in all national conventions of the ASAC member Senates We actively participate in the JCI 2020 World Congress and the joint meeting of senators' associations around the world We participate in regional meetings through which the possible re-name change of ASAC was defined We achieved ASAC legal registration as a non-profit organization, in the US, with its federal identification num- ber, tax exempt, which has allowed us to manage our funds, receive income and pay our obligations electroni- cally through a checking account, which solved the cumbersome problem of managing cash funds and on per- sonal accounts of treasurers We have been able to maintain constant communication with our board members and ASAC member senates, which has allowed us to further strengthen the relations of our sister senators from different multilingual and multicultural countries Let us ask God for the eternal Rest of the deceased, The prompt recovery to those affected by the Covid-19 virus today And let's say thank you, the ones who have stayed healthy Desire of all Heart that we will finish our year 2020 and start and thus continue in 2021 healthy in peace, har- mony, and love with our dear families, Let us continue to take care of ourselves and prepare for the new challenges that come to us next year 2021, and that we put into practice, once again, our experience, wisdom and our capacity to work for our young ac- tive citizens JCI and in strengthening our ASAC institution Let's all finish having a Merry Christmas and a Happy 2021

A dios a un año duro pero lleno de aprendizaje

Recordaremos este año por el coronavirus, por esta pandemia que ha puesto el mundo patas arriba, por el confinamiento, por los toques de queda, por las mascarillas, por uso excesivo del alcohol en gel, por la incertidumbre y por las carencias de demostraciones de afectos a lo que los seres humanos estamos acostumbrados. No ha sido nuestro mejor año, para qué lo vamos a negar. Y no es que el Año Nuevo sea la solu- ción a todos nuestros problemas, pero es cierto que estamos deseando dejar atrás este año aciago.

Año 2020, no creas que te odiamos, tenemos ganas de que te vayas por el agotamiento causado, pero también tenemos algunas cosas que agradecerte. Llegaste con ganas de protagonismo y lo has conseguido, te presentaste dispuesto a despedazar nuestras ilusiones. Tuvimos que quedarnos en casa, tuvimos que dejar de abrazar a nuestros seres queridos, tuvimos que dejar de besar a nuestros amigos, tuvimos que dejar de viajar, tuvimos que perder trabajos. Sin duda serás un año histórico, sin duda serás recordado en las generaciones futuras, pero no te vas a llevar todo el protagonismo porque los protagonistas, los actores principales seguimos y seguiremos siendo nosotros.

Tu afán de protagonismo dejó las calles vacías y personas con mascarilla. Pero la mascarilla no nos va a callar ni va a impedir que sigamos sonriendo con la mirada. Y esa incertidumbre que ha marcado este año se diluirá entre las pequeñas certezas que vamos descubriendo cada día. Pero también serás recordado por el ser el año que nos hicimos conscientes de algunos valores que teníamos olvidados. Por esos padres y madres que empezaron a pasar más tiempo con sus hijos pequeños, por todo lo que aprendieron jugando con ellos, por frenar el ritmo de vida, por aprender del silencio y de la soledad, por descubrir el poder que tiene un Whatsapp.

Serás recordado por apreciar esos vínculos que no rompe la distancia, por la solidaridad, por descubrir a nuestros vecinos, por la empatía, por los cuidados. Te recordaremos por lo malo, pero también por obligarnos a ver el mundo de una forma diferente, por habernos hecho valorar más lo que tenemos, por mostrarnos lo que vale el momento presente.

Por hacernos más fuertes a pesar de todo. Te recordaremos por hacernos ver cuánto podemos crecer en las dificultades y por aprender a disfrutar cada minuto con los nuestros. Porque este año, sin duda, hemos encontrado a los demás, pero también nos hemos reencontrado con nosotros mismos.

Por ahora cerremos los ojos, pensemos en todo lo que nos hizo sonreír el año que termina, pensemos en todo lo que aprendimos, sonreiremos y que esa sonrisa se multiplique por millones para aliviar la gran carga de inseguridad.

ADIOS 2020 Y BIENVENIDO 2021

Goodbye a hard year but full of learning

We will remember this year for the coronavirus, for this pandemic that has turned the world upside down, for confinement, for curfews, for masks, for excessive use of gel alcohol, for uncertainty and for the lack of demonstrations of affections to which humans are accustomed. It wasn't our best year, why are we going to deny it. And it's not that the New Year is the solution to all our problems, but it's true that we're looking forward to leaving behind this year.

Year 2020, don't think we hate you, we want you to leave because of the exhaustion caused, but we also have some things to thank you for. You came in wanting to prominence and you've done it, you've been willing to tear apart our illusions. We had to stay home, we had to stop hugging our loved ones, we had to stop kissing our friends, we had to stop traveling, we had to lose jobs. Without a doubt you will be a historic year, you will certainly be remembered in future generations, but you will not take all the prominence because the protagonists, the main actors we continue and we will continue to be us.

Your desire for prominence left the streets empty and people in masks. But the mask isn't going to shut us up, and it's not going to stop us from smiling with our eyes. And that uncertainty that has marked this year will be diluted among the small certainties that we discover every day. But you will also be remembered for being the year we became aware of some values that we had forgotten. For those parents who began to spend more time with their young children, for everything they learned by playing with them, by slowing down the pace of life, by l earning from silence and loneliness, by discovering the power of a Whatsapp.

You will be remembered for appreciating these bonds that do not break the distance, for solidarity, for discovering our neighbors, for empathy, for care. We will remember you for the bad, but also for forcing us to see the world in a different way, for having made us value more what we have, for showing us what the present moment is worth.

For making us stronger in spite of everything. We will remind you to let us see how much we can grow in difficulties and to l earn to enjoy each minute with ours. Because this year, without a doubt, we have found others, but we have also met with ourselves.

For now, let's close our eyes, think about everything that made us smile the year that ends, think about everything we learned, smile, and have that smile multiply by millions to alleviate the great burden of insecurity. GOODBYE 2020 AND WELCOME 2021

Director de ASAC para Norte América y el Caribe habla no español organizo una reunión Regional el 7 de noviembre 2020. Los oradores del segundo Fórum de ASAC Senado Verde de nuestra Región. Los Senadores Jeansy Matina (Aruba), Ariel Jones (USA), Janet Gibson (Jamaica) y Pasado Presidente de ASAC Max Apa- poe hicieron sus presentaciones. La reunión fue a petición de senadores de nuestra Región que no pudieron asistir al segundo Fórum para apoyar a nuestros oradores. Hubo participantes de todas las Regiones de ASAC. El presidente de ASAC Senador Rafael Taveras y la directora del Senado verde Senadora Geovan- na Kon fueron invitados. Les agradecemos por su aprobación en organizar esta reunión por nuestra misma cuenta y tam- bién su presencia. Esto es por respeto a ellos. La directora de la Región cargó con los gastos como todas las otras reuniones regionales de nuestra Región. Participaron Pasados Presidentes de ASAC, el Emba- jador para ASAC del Senado de JCI US Senador Steve Sutherland, Presidente de Senados, Presidente Nacionales, Presi- dentes Locales y miembros. Participaron los hijos del Senador Jeansy de Aruba quienes viven en Nueva York para apoyar a su Padre. El objetivo de estos Fórums es para dar algunas ideas a los OL de cómo se trata con el tema de medio ambiente en otros países.

The ASAC Director assigned to North America and the non spanish speakjng Caribbean organized a Regional meeting on November 7th , 2020. The speakers of the Second Forum of the ASAC green senate of our Region n.l.. senators Jeansy Martina ( Aruba) , Ariel Jones( USA), Janet Gibson( Jamaica) and Past President ASAC Max Apapoe made their presentations during mentioned meeting. This .meeting was on request of the Senators of the Region who could not be present during the second Forum to support our speakers. We had participants from all Regions of ASAC. . The President of ASAC and the Director of Green were invited. . We thank both of them for their blessing to organize this meeting at our own expenses. This was done out of Respect to them . We had Past Presidents of ASAC, The Ambassador of JCI US Senate to ASAC ; Senator Steve Sutherland , Senate Presidents, Senators, National Presidents and Local Presidents and members present. Even The Childrens of Senator Jeansy from Aruba who resides in New York were present to support their father. The objective of these Forums is to give the local organizations some ideas of how the environment matter is dealt with in several other countries. The intention is that they should organize projects. A special thanks goes to my National President of JCI Dutch Caribbean Senator Rosetna Martinus , who assisted in organizing this meeting, Past President of ASAC Senator Elva Angela who.lead us in the invocation, and Senate President of JCI Peru Senator Hercilia Lopez for reciting the JCI Creed , all Senators friends, National Presidents Local presidents and members who participated. Dear SENATOR FRIENDS ..THANKYOU VERY MUCH.You made the concert become a TOTAL SUCCESS.There was a little bit of everything. Much more them we expected. Really it went beyond expectations. The assistance was very high. Due to the fact that Senator Roderick Kwidama who used to assist during all my meetings as moderator this time I was director, organizer, coordinator and moderator of the Concert. The comments on the Zoom chat and my two cellphones during the entire duration of the concert are proof of the Joy and Hapi- ness that participants and the musicians and performers felt and lived.At the beginning of the concert we shared the second promotion video ofbthe performers including a short discription of their musical career. The master of ceremonies was Guido Rojer , EVP of JCI Dutch Caribbean. Director Senator Rudmila Smith-Paulo who organized the event opened the event with warm welcome.Senator Roset- ma Martinus-Mariana, President of JCI Dutch Caribbean made the very impressive invocation. Pastor Humberto Nieto, Past JCI Vice President presented an emotional reflection on Christmas Celabra- tion.JCI VP 2020 and JCI EVP elect 2021, Senator Heather Vardell recited the JCI CREED. Senator Rafael Taveras, .ASAC President made an excellent speech. The Past Presidents of ASAC , Senator Elva Angela. Senator Manuel Pineda, Senator Marita Gonzales and Senator Viviemne Daflaar presented warm christmas greetings. JCI VICE President Silvetty de la paz a very special christmas message. The performers, AMI, NELSON BRAVEHEART on his SAXSOPHO- NE, TITANIA WILLEMS, DAVID( DEA) HUGO, VONETTA LAUF- FER, HERSHEL ROSARIO, NAJEE ROSARIO, AND REAY LAUF- FER DID A WONDERFUL TREMENDOUS PRESENTATION "AWESOME". Instead of two hours the cincert lasted three hours. The performers decided to add more songs to their repertoir. They felt the Excitement , Joy, Happiness, Love, Positive Spirit and more in the room from the audience.INCREDIBLE FROM THE DISTANCE. RECOGNITION : Certificate of Excellence for outstanding participation. Presented to the 7 Senates: JCI US Senate, JCI Canada Sena- te, ARUBA Senate, Cursenate , JCI SURINAM , JCI Trinidad and Tobego. Certificate of Honor presented to the for their Enthousiasm and effort to attend ASAC ACTIVITIES. A plaque was presented to Senator HEATHER VARDELL for her plan- ned visit to Curacao and her assistance to the National and Local organizations and participation in our ASAC meetings of the Re- gion . Estimados AMIGOS SENADORES, GRACIAS y MIL GRACIAS. Ustedes hicieron que el Concierto se convirtió en ÉXITO ROTUNDO, MARAVILLISO. Hubo de todo mucho mas de lo que hemos esperado. Realmente estuvo mas allá de las expectativas. Como mi moderador Roderick Kwidama en las reuniones de ZOOM estaba enfermo yo estuve como dirigente, coordinadora y moderador del concierto. Los comentarios en el chat de ZOOM y en ambos celulares míos durante toda la duración del concierto eran pruebas de la alegría y felicidad que los participantes y los músicos sentían y vivían. Al inicio compartimos el secundo video de promoción ilustrando fotos de los músicos incluyendo un corto resumen de su historia musical. El Maestro de ceremonia fue Guido Rojer, Vice Presidente Ejecutivo de JCI Dutch Caribbean. La Directora ASAC Rudmila Smith-Paulo para Norte America y Caribe habla no español, organiza- dora del evento, inicia el evento con un caluroso saludo de bienvenida a la audiencia. La Senadora Rosetna Martinus- Mariana Pre- sidente de JCI Dutch Caribbean hizo la invocación. El Padre Humberto Nieto Meza, Pasado Vice Presidente JCI, hizo una reflexión muy emocionante de la celebración Navideña. Senadora Heather Vardell, Vice Presidente JCI 2020, Vice Presidente Ejecutivo JCI Electo 2021, recitó el Credo JCI. EL Presidente de ASAC , Senador Rafael Taveras dio un excelente discurso. Los Pasados Presiden- tes de ASAC, Senadora Elva Angela, Senador Manuel Pineda, Senadora Marita González, Senadora Vivien Daflaar dieron un saludo navideño muy caluroso. Vice Presidente JCI Silvety de la Paz dió un saludo navideño muy especial. Los cantantes y músicos: AMI, NELSON BRAVEHEART con su SAXOFON , TITANIA WILLEMS, DAVID (DEA) HUGO, VONETTA LAUFFER, HERSHEL ROSARIO, NAJEE ROSARIO Y REAY LAUFFER HICIERON UNA PRESENTACIÓN MARAVILLOSO TREMENDO "INCREÍBLE". En vez de dos horas el concierto se extiende a tres horas. Los músicos deciden agregar mas canciones a su repertorio. Ellos sintieron la emoción, felicidad, alegría, amor, espíritu positivo y mucho mas en. la sala de la audiencia. INCREÍBLE . APESAR DE LA DISTANCIA. RECONOCIMIENTO: Certificado de EXCELLENCIA por partición destacada fue presentado a los siete(7) Senados: Senado JCI Estados Unidos, Senado JCI Canada, Senado JCI Surinam, Senado JCI Jamaica, senado de Curazao "Cursenate", Senado JCI Aruba , Senado Trinidad and Tobago.
