9 DIRECTORY OF FIRE AND SAFETY GUIDELINES Fire exit maps are located behind the door. It is important that you familiarize yourself with the emergency procedures in order to be prepared in the unlikely event of fire. Check the location of the fire alarm, fire extinguishers and hoses on your floor. Check the fire exit positions and count the number of doorways between your room door and the emergency exits.

IN CASE OF FIRE Open the door carefully as the door knobs could be very hot. If there is smoke in the corridor, walk as slow as possible. Always stay calm, do not use the elevator. If the fire exits are blocked, go back to your room. Press the emergency button on the telephone or call the Operator by pressing ‘0’. Turn off the air conditioning control unit. Phone your location to the hotel telephone operator by pressing ‘0’ or the emergency button. Fill the bathtub with water as a water reserve only. Stuff wet towels and sheets around door seals and air vents. Use a waste bin to take water from the bathtub to keep the towels wet if smoke seeps in. Remove curtains from the window. If smoke enters the room, make a tent over your head with a wet blanket. Do not open or break a window if smoke or flames are rising outside from a lower floor.

REMEMBER Most fatalities occur from smoke and poisonous gases, not from burning. Always stay as close to the ground as possible, never use the elevator. Please press the Emergency button for any assistance. SERVICES
