The Act mandates the University to focus on teaching and research in the field of Police, Social Sciences, Criminal Justice, Public Safety and Security and other related areas.

Vision To provide an interdisciplinary academic environment for learning and research through programs that include perspectives for Social Sciences, Humanities, Science & Technology and professional studies whereby students and professionals equip themselves with intellectual, professional and moral competencies for combating the emerging challenges to security, justice and public safety in a free, democratic and diverse society.

Within a short span of two years and a half since it was founded it has carved a unique niche for itself in the arena of academics. A fast changing world is constantly in a state of flux and volatility and needs to focus on crucial issues related to security, criminal justice, cyber crime and cyber terrorism, road safety, gender sensitization issues and other related fields. SPUP is doing ground breaking work in some of the above mentioned fields and is working like a bridge by bringing policy makers, academicians, researchers, social scientists, lawyers and police personnel together to focus on the above mentioned pivotal issues. A dynamic and intellectually vibrant environment of the University stresses on innovative and creative solutions to the problems related to the aforementioned fields. It aims to use expertise from erudite scholars and researchers across a wide spectrum to make learning more comprehensive and inclusive. The University aims to fulfill the vision of Jawaharlal Nehru as a University that stands for humanism, tolerance, reason, progress, adventure of ideas and the search for truth. The University provides an excellent infrastructure with AC class rooms, AC dining hall, computer and language labs, Wi-Fi campus, besides playgrounds for sports and physical activities. There are separate hostels for boys and girls providing all amenities required for a comfortable stay in a residential university.

6 Infrastructure Classrooms The University has well lit, air-conditioned class rooms equipped with all the necessary facilities like LCD projectors etc. Language Lab The University has a well equipped digital language lab with the latest software to improve and enhance the linguistic Computer Lab skills of the students. Computer/ Internet Centre The University has a Wi-Fi campus to provide opportunities to students to learn through the internet and other academic resources. Well-equipped computer labs with state- of- art computers are also provided so that adequate student computer ratio can be maintained. Library A well furnished and well – catalogued library caters to the Dining Hall teaching and research needs of faculty, students and Hostel Room researchers. Hostels, Faculty and Staff Residence There are separate hostels for both boys and girls. Faculty & staff residence facility is also available on the Campus.
