Hot water heated by the sun Solar thermal energy Environmentally friendly and economical

The sun as an energy supplier Inexhaustible and dependable

Every year, the sun provides us with many times the energy of all known fossil fuel reserves. This radiant energy is available all the time, and what's more, it's free. To meet the world's growing energy demand while at Yearly sum of global irradiance the same time protecting the environment we need to tap into this huge potential.

Solar energy systems for hot water production and supple- mentary heating make a significant contribution to this. Not only do they allow independence from fluctuating fossil fuel prices and heating periods but they also considerably reduce the running costs.

kWh / m2 Solar collectors do not need a cloudless sky in order to 2,500 2,000 1,500 1,000 convert sunshine into energy, nor are they limited to southern countries only. Even in 'shady' countries, Period: 1981 – 2000; uncertainty 10 % Source: Meteonorm 6.0 (www.meteonorm.com) hot water solar systems can reach high coverage levels.

High-performance flat-plate collectors Maximum output with very good insulation

The certified high-performance flat-plate collector SCM 215 reliably absorbs the incident solar energy and the selective full-surface absorber converts a very broad spectrum of the light into heat. The double insulation system effectively pre- vents heat losses.

The flat-plate collector is available for either horizontal or vertical installation. Its low mounted height of only 81 mm allows a smooth transition between the collector surface and the roof. Whether on-roof, flat roof or in-roof mounting is selected, a wide range of accessories and installation kits enable optimum use to be made for any roof situation.

Thanks to its innovative lightweight geometry the collector weighs only 32.5 kg for a gross area of 2.15 m2. Its light weight and low overall height in conjunction with an all- round grip rail ensure ease of handling during installation on the roof.

Innovative technology Smart installation

Intelligent systems engineering

The solar collector is manufactured using the very latest methods. The laser-welded serpentine absorber enables high levels of efficiency to be achieved. The small angle of inclination of the meander pipes enables the flat collector to be used in both pumped and drainback solar systems.

Even in large fields the solar fluid flows evenly through each of the collectors, and that reduces the demand on the circulating pump. Up to 12 collectors can thus be operated with the CLAGE pump assembly.

The newly developed fixing system with quick-release connectors saves installation time for the whole system. The collectors meet the high quality requirements of the European standards. The Solar Keymark certificate and documented minimum output of 525 kWh / m2 · a makes them eligible for grants.

One-stop shopping Solar systems with storage tank and accessories

Because the times when heat is required seldom correspond to the times when solar energy is available, the heat generated by solar power has to be sent through the solar circuit to the solar storage tank. It is taken from there for heating or to heat the potable water.

As well as the solar collectors, a solar thermal energy system therefore also includes a solar storage tank, a pump assembly with electronic solar controller and the requisite installation and operating accessories.

Whereas a drinking water storage tank is sufficient for hot water production, supplementary heating requires a solar buffer tank. The good makes the system very efficient.

To facilitate the choice of system components, various solar complete packages are available with all the different devices to meet every requirement.

SOLARTRONIC fresh water station Integral convenience

Optimum hygiene and central top-up heating

Conventional tanks where hot water is stored for extended periods can favour the multiplication of legionella bacteria. To render them harmless, large tanks have to be regularly heated up to over 60 °C, and that increases the energy use.

This is not an issue anymore when the FWX fresh water station is incorporated, which is connected to the drinking water tank or buffer tank. Instead of the drinking water being stored it is heated directly as it flows through the in the fresh water station. That protects people's health as well as saving energy.

One particular innovation is the new SOLARTRONIC fresh water station with an integral electronic instantaneous water heater for central top-up heating. This system ensures hot water is always on tap when it's needed, and at the required temperature, even at night and on cloudy days.

According to requirements and local Top-up heating

With electronic instantaneous water heaters

If there are long pipe runs it makes sense to use elec- tronically controlled instantaneous water heaters to meet requirements right at the particular point of use, rather than central top-up heating. That avoids the energy losses that would otherwise occur with long pipe runs. The instan- taneous water heaters automatically heat the water to the correct temperature for the requirement whenever the Solar collector SCM 215 water heated by solar energy is not hot enough.

For example, the powerful DSX instantaneous water heater provides plenty of hot water for the bathroom. The ideal Bathroom Restroom supply for a kitchen sink is the CFX-U under-sink instanta- DSX neous water heater, whereas the MDX small instantaneous MDX water heater supplies the demand at the washbasin. Storage Kitchen Out- unit building for solar energy The water heating process can be completely separated with FWX CFX-U MDX from the installation.
