The Knights started the night tangling with Loudonville which saw the two squads in an early nip and tuck affair. Colton Bowling (Jr., 138 lbs.) recorded a forfeit win to start things off, but the Redbirds scored back to back fall wins before Cody Woods (Sr., 152 lbs.) pocketed a fall win (1:45) to knot the team score at 12 apiece. 1 Loudonville would win the 160 lbs. bout by sudden death decision to pull in front 15 – 12, but the Knights would blow it wide open after that winning the final nine matches. In that winning streak, W.H.H.S. got a major decision win from Skylar Cline (Jr., 170 lbs.) followed by Josh Baldridge (Soph., 182 lbs.), Alex Walker (Sr., 195 lbs.), and Jake Mullet (Sr., 220 lbs.) fall wins. Senior Logan Miller (285 lbs.), Cael Woods (Fr., 106 lbs.), and Thane Kaufman (Jr., 113 lbs.) all received forfeit wins before freshman Tyler Masters (120 lbs.) and Walker Uhl (126 lbs.) closed out the team scoring with a major decision win and tech fall win respectively. West Holmes would have to work a little harder in their match-up with the Huskies as Northwestern won four of the first five bouts to pull out to a 21 – 6 lead after the 170 lbs. match. The lone win for the Knights in the early going was a fall win by Cody Woods at :49. But like they did against Loudonville, the Knights went on a hot streak winning 8 of the final 9 matches to come from behind and knock off the Huskies. Pocketing fall victories for W.H.H.S. in the winning streak against Northwestern were Walker, Miller and Cael Woods with Uhl winning by decision and the Knights Baldridge, Mullet, Kaufman, and Masters receiving forfeit wins. Coach Woods was pleased with his squad’s undefeated night and was really impressed with his younger wrestlers. “We started five freshmen, a couple of kids (Baldridge and O’Donnell) who haven’t wrestled in a year or two and a senior (Miller) who’s never wrestled before. The majority of them came through with wins. Overall, I’m happy. It’s just good to get a couple team wins under our belt.” In the other ‘Backyard Brawl’ duals Northwestern downed host Triway 47 – 21 while Loudonville topped the Titans 39 – 21. The initial complaint (#15-11-1080) was filed against the Wooster City School District (District) on January 24, 2011. The complainant alleged that the District denied a student with a disability (the Student), who uses a wheelchair, an equal opportunity to participate on the District’s middle school track team during the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 school years. On December 30, 2011, OCR opened a related complaint (#15-12-4010) against the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), as OCR determined that OHSAA, as the organization responsible for setting athletic participation rules for the District and an entity involved in the District’s alleged denial of equal opportunity to the Student, was a necessary party to the resolution of the complaint against the District.
