FASCINATION STATION

Fascination Station Camps are half-day programs providing in- depth exposure to specific topics in a fun, enriching environment. Camps are designed to provide a variety of fascinating choices for campers. Individual camp structures vary based on the nature of the program, but generally include small group activities developing continuity throughout the week. Some themes may include special presenters or a field trip. Registration closes one week prior to the start of each session. Each day bring in a bag or backpack labeled with full name: • 1 Snack • Water bottle • Sunscreen, bug repellant and hand sanitizer • Swimming suit and towel daily • At least one mask (two preferred) • Sun hat and/or sunglasses Camp Themes Guardian handbooks are emailed approximately one week prior to the start of camp. Get your hands dirty and discover the world of gardening and farming through activities such as planting seeds and designing a garden. SUPER CENTER REMIX

Celebrating our 25th year, Super Center Arts Camp is one of MSCR’s oldest day camps. Camp looks a little different this summer, and we have renamed it Super Center REMIX (SCR)! Super Center REMIX provides campers an opportunity to develop artistic interests in dance, theater and visual arts skills in a creative camp format. Due to health and safety guidelines, campers have an in-depth experience of two of these fine arts subjects each week. See the theme descriptions below. In addition to activities in music, drama, dance and/or visual arts, daily activities also include games and other traditional camp activities, as well as a mid-day mindfulness break. Depending on health guidelines other activities may include swimming, guest performers, field trips and special camp performances. Registration closes one week prior to the first Camp Themes day of camp. ARTS AROUND THE WORLD Each day bring a labeled bag/backpack with full name on all items: Get your passport ready! Join us as we explore the globe, learning about different cultures and distant lands. ART CART RETURNS THIS SUMMER!

Look for this free, traveling art program June 14 to August 18. Art Cart is a free traveling art program that visits parks and schools throughout Madison every summer. The program is a partnership between Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) and Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMOCA), and offers fun, art activities exposing children to a variety of art mediums and opportunities. Look for more information in the Summer Program Guide.

Students enrolled in the in-person Summer Semester program have the option to stay for an MSCR program each day in the afternoon: Summer Recreation & Enrichment Centers (SREC) for elementary students and Youth Resource Centers (YRC) for middle school students. To enroll in MSCR after Summer Semester, select the full day option when completing online Summer Semester enrollment.

CAMP TALL OAKS Camp Themes Camp Tall Oaks is your go to camp for exploring the outdoors! Camp AMAZING RACE Tall Oaks combines outdoor leadership, environmental education Explore the School Forest like you're on the Amazing Race! SPORTS CAMPS SPORTS ALL STARS This camp is perfect for the athlete who enjoys playing a variety of sports and also those non-traditional recreation games. Camp focuses on a different sport each week and campers are taught skills and participate in games and activities in sports such as soccer, basketball, flag football and more. We cap it all off with an Olympics Week to celebrate the Olympic Games, highlight our campers, and learn a little bit about international sports and athletes. All of our camps have an emphasis of sportsmanship, , leadership and being kind to our fellow campers. This camp offers two separate four-week sessions. REGISTRATION INFORMATION Children must register for the entire 8-week program. In order to attend the first week of the program the registration process must be completed by Friday, June 4. Enrollment is on a first-come, first- served basis and space is limited. Participants are grouped by age when possible. A structured day camp featuring activities based on weekly themes, including arts & crafts, sports, indoor and outdoor games, swimming, science, nature, and field trips or special events. Campers typically spend at least one afternoon a week swimming at an indoor pool. Breakfast snacks and lunch are provided. For children entering grades 1-5 in the Fall. Program is offered June 21-August 20, 2021, Monday through Friday. All camp programs are closed Monday, July 5. Camper drop off is between 7:30-9:00am and camper pickup is between 4-5:30pm. Did you know that scientists gather information about the world around them using their powers of observation? In this week- long program, middle school students explore STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields connected to research at UW Madison. Participation Agreement By registering for MSCR youth programming, I hereby understand and agree to the following: 1. I and my child(ren) will adhere to MSCR rules and procedures. 2. I have read the Youth Programs Policy Handbook and I am aware of MSCR policies, procedures and guidelines. 3. I have read the Participant Expectations of Behavior and am aware that MSCR staff will use these guidelines when working with participants and families to resolve any behavior issues. 4. My child and I will treat all MSCR participants, staff, volunteers and families with respect and dignity in language, attitude, behavior and mannerisms regardless of race, creed, color, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or ability. 5. I will provide MSCR with current information regarding my child’s address, phone number, medication, disabilities, swimming abilities and any other relevant information that will enable MSCR staff to serve my child in the best possible manner. 6. I hereby give permission for MSCR to take or transport my child(ren) on supervised field trips during program hours. 7. All children must leave the building at the close of the program. Guardians are responsible for their children at closing time. 8. I hereby grant permission for MMSD/MSCR staff to share with each other any information or records regarding my child. This includes the ability of MMSD school staff to disclose to MSCR staff pupil records or information related to disability status, health conditions and behavioral concerns for the purpose of providing appropriate accommodations and supports in MSCR youth programming. 9. MSCR/MMSD staff have my permission to assist my child in the application of sunscreen and/or insect repellent prior to outdoor activities. It is my understanding that children are required to bring both sunscreen and insect repellent for use during MSCR programs. Children should come to their program in the morning with sunscreen already applied. 10. If emergency medical care is deemed necessary and I am unable to be reached, MSCR staff is authorized to act in my child’s behalf in granting permission for my child to receive emergency treatment or surgery.

Participant Health & Safety Agreement 1. I will not attend MSCR programming, unless everyone in our home is healthy and symptom free, with no known exposure to COVID-19. 2. I will practice proper social distancing while on program premises. 3. I will discuss the importance of social distancing with my child, if applicable. 4. I understand and accept that there may be increased health risk due to COVID-19 and the possibility that I may be unknowingly exposed to COVID-19. 5. I understand the COVID-19 situation is fluid and subject to change per state, other local authority, and program needs. 6. I understand that due to COVID-19 or health or safety issues, the state, other local authorities or the MMSD Superintendent may require the immediate closure of the program for a short period of time, or for the duration of the program pending the circumstances. 7. I understand failure to follow all program safety guidelines may result in me being discontinued from the program.

Non-residents do not qualify for fee assistance. Fee assistance is provided to families whose income is less than 185% of the Federal Poverty Level. MSCR youth program fees may be partially or fully waived for youth meeting the criteria for free or reduced price school meals. This Fee Assistance Request and payment must accompany the MSCR Registration Form. Fee assistance is not granted after the MSCR Registration Form is processed.
