STEPHENS rT r aHE SOUL TRADITION is a prime cultural force in American popular music; of that, there can be little doubt, although this musical phenomenon is sometimes vaguely defined. Born of the Civil Rights and Black Power movements of the 1960s, soul has provided a musical and cultural foundation for virtually every facet of contemporary popular music. More important than its commercial successes, however, are the messages and philosophies it has communicated and the musical influences which underlie its development. -
JC Williamson (Opera, Comic Opera, Operetta)
AUSTRALIAN EPHEMERA COLLECTION FINDING AID J.C. WILLIAMSON OPERA, COMIC OPERA, OPERETTA PROGRAMS PERFORMING ARTS PROGRAMS AND EPHEMERA (PROMPT) PRINTED AUSTRALIANA AUGUST 2017 James Cassius Williamson was an American actor who immigrated to Australia in the 1870s. Along with business partners, such as William Musgrove, his theatre company became one of the most dominant in colonial Australia. After his death in 1913 the company, now named J.C. Williamson Ltd. continued under the direction of George Tallis and the Tait brothers (who remained involved in the company until the 1970s). J.C. Williamson continued to be one of the biggest theatre companies in Australia throughout the first three quarters of the 20th century. J.C. Williamson held the license for theatres in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and New Zealand (at times more than one theatre in each city). In 1976 the company closed, but the name was licensed until the mid 1980s. This list includes productions of Gilbert and Sullivan operettas held in J.C. Williamson theatres, as well as those produced by J.C. Williamson and performed in other theatres under venue hire arrangements. CONTENT Printed materials in the PROMPT collection include programs and printed ephemera such as brochures, leaflets, tickets, etc. Theatre programs are taken as the prime documentary evidence of a performance staged by the J.C. Williamson company. In a few cases however, the only evidence of a performance is a piece of printed ephemera. In these cases the type of piece is identified, eg, brochure. The list is based on imperfect holdings and is updated as gaps in the Library’s holdings for these artists are filled. -

First Term - Exam 1 Full Name: _____________________________ Class: _____________ Time: 55 Minutes October 17th, 2018 1. J. G. Quintel is thirty-six years old. He is an American voice actor, animator, television writer, producer and director. He is best known as the creator of the Cartoon Network series ‘Regular Show’, in which he also voiced the characters Mordecai and High Five Ghost. 2.My name is J.G. Quintel, and I’m the creator of ‘The Regular Show’. I grew up watching cartoons especially‘The Simpsons’, I didn’t miss an episode at all.‘The Simpsons’ was the one that my friends and I were quoting constantly. 3.I really liked drawing, and I liked art. For as long as I can remember, I never wanted to be anything else. When I found out that it’s actually something people do for a living, I decided that I wanted to do that. So I went to college, and now I’m doing it. 4.In school you had to make a film every year. So, I made a film that had Mordecai in itand Benson in it. And it really was like how we acted in school. All the “uuuh!” and “Hmm, hmm!Hmm!hmm!”, that is just me and my friends being idiots.Because of the animation, you can do anything. So, they could have been human but that would be kind of boring. All the characters from my films are not what they happen to be. If you get past the fact that Benson is a gumball machine, or that Pops is a lollipop, they are just normal people hanging out.
