THE COUNTESS KATYA SMIRNOFF-SKYY has enthralled Bay Area audiences for years with her unique blend of opera, pop, and booze. With a career spanning a very… very long time, Katya claims to have invented popera, romanced William Shatner, and lived across the hall from John Lennon at the Dakota during her infamous 1970s stint in New York. Once Eastern Europe’s most sought after mezzo soprano understudy, the countess now spends her evenings crooning and drinking her way through the finer theaters, bars, and bathhouses of America. Named “Best Drag Act 2008” by the San Francisco Bay Guardian and best actor in a musical for Katya: A Holiday Spectacular in 2009. Katya has appeared in various theatrical runs and nightclubs, with sold out shows at the RRazz Room, Feinstein’s at the Nikko, New Conservatory Theatre Center, OASIS, and Don’t Tell Mama’s. For the last thirteen years she has performed on the third Sunday of every month at Martuni’s, San Francisco’s premier piano bar. Katya played Blanche Hudson in the Billy Clift film Baby Jane and Mildred in his Hush Up, Sweet Charlotte. @katyasmirnoff | katyasmirnoffskyy (Instagram) THE COUNTESS KATYA SMIRNOFF-SKYY guest artist 2017.12 • BAYSTAGES.COM | 7

We are grateful to the SFGMC Divas, a group of Chorus members and supporters who produce the annual Dragathon crowdfunding event which supports our Ryan’s Fund / Financial Aid Network (FAN), which in turn provides financial assistance to help subsidize dues and related expenses for Chorus members who would otherwise not be able to participate in SFGMC. in 2016 and 2017, Dragathon raised over $93,000 from over 600 donors. Space limitations preclude our listing them by name, but we deeply appreciate all of these contributors.

The preceding lists donors from January 1, 2016 to November 19, 2017. The Chorus is grateful for all gifts received, including the ones under $100 that are too numerous to list.
