For the Mediterranean Sea we suggest the use of F. hyalinus in SDM as an indicator of environmental stability and a possible forecasting tool for salinity fluctuations. -

111 Freemasonry and civil society: reform of manners and the Journal fuÈr Freymaurer (1784-1786) ANDREAS OÈ NNERFORS Freemasonry as a tool of moral improvement In 1784 the Bohemian mineralogist Ignaz von Born, in his capacity as master of the Masonic lodge Zur wahren Eintracht [True Union] in Vienna, took the initiative to publish the ®rst successful Masonic period- ical in Europe, the Journal fuÈr Freymaurer.1 It was subsequently edited in twelve quarterly volumes, with an average of 250 pages, printed in 1000 copies and disseminated across the entire Habsburg Monarchy, a vast undertaking, bearing in mind the transport infrastructure of the eight- eenth century. The journal contained extensive treatments of religious traditions resembling Freemasonry, essays on Masonic virtues and values, reviews of Masonic literature, poetry and Masonic news from all parts of Europe. But a signi®cant number of the essays included in the journal also covered the impact of Freemasonry on society. The Masonic move- ment interpreted itself as a moral force with the potential to transform manners for the universal bene®t and improvement of society and mankind. Born wrote in his address to readers that, within the Order of Freemasons, freedom of thought and equality of all natural rights was a fundamental law. Hence, it was a right to communicate the results of such free deliberation to fellow brethren.2 Based upon a series of essays focusing on the moral aspects of Freemasonry, this article attempts to outline the content of these `free deliberations' that only a few years before the French Revolution read surprisingly radical, especially in the context of the Habsburg Monarchy. -

Historia naturalis bulgarica, 22: 45-71, 2015 Invertebrate Animals (Metazoa: Invertebrata) of the Atanasovsko Lake, Bulgaria Zdravko Hubenov, Lyubomir Kenderov, Ivan Pandourski Abstract: The role of the Atanasovsko Lake for storage and protection of the specific faunistic diversity, characteristic of the hyper-saline lakes of the Bulgarian seaside is presented. The fauna of the lake and surrounding waters is reviewed, the taxonomic diversity and some zoogeographical and ecological features of the invertebrates are analyzed. The lake system includes from freshwater to hyper-saline basins with fast changing environment. A total of 6 types, 10 classes, 35 orders, 82 families and 157 species are known from the Atanasovsko Lake and the surrounding basins. They include 56 species (35.7%) marine and marine-brackish forms and 101 species (64.3%) brackish-freshwater, freshwater and terrestrial forms, connected with water. For the first time, 23 species in this study are established (12 marine, 1 brackish and 10 freshwater). The marine and marine- brackish species have 4 types of ranges – Cosmopolitan, Atlantic-Indian, Atlantic-Pacific and Atlantic. The Atlantic (66.1%) and Cosmopolitan (23.2%) ranges that include 80% of the species, predominate. Most of the fauna (over 60%) has an Atlantic-Mediterranean origin and represents an impoverished Atlantic-Mediterranean fauna. The freshwater-brackish, freshwater and terrestrial forms, connected with water, that have been established from the Atanasovsko Lake, have 2 main types of ranges – species, distributed in the Palaearctic and beyond it and species, distributed only in the Palaearctic. The representatives of the first type (52.4%) predomi- nate. They are related to the typical marine coastal habitats, optimal for the development of certain species. -

It was intended in part to glorify Freemasonry as a new Emperor, more hostile to the Masons, took his office. After a brief survey of his life and works, this paper shows how Mozart used number symbolism in the opera, and will equip the reader with an understanding of this as practiced by the Freemasons. Further, it will show how Mozart associated the characters of the opera with specific musical tones. It will expose a deeper understanding of the question of meaning in word and text in his opera. -

Correo-e: [email protected] (FECHA DE RECEPCIÓN: 2008-04-01) (FECHA DE ADMISIÓN: 2008-04-15) BIBLID [0211-8327 (2008) 44 (1); 91-140] RESUMEN: El estudio de los pectínidos (Bivalvia, Mollusca) en sedimentos pliocenos de la Cuenca de Vejer de la Frontera (Cádiz, SO España) permite determinar 13 especies, agrupadas en 8 géneros, ampliando la información previa en la zona de esta familia de bivalvos en 5 especies. La presencia de M. pesfelis, F. flexuosus, P. excisum, P. jacobaeus y P. maximus nos permite confirmar y corroborar la edad de Plioceno aportada por la microfauna. A su vez, la existencia de M. latissima, P. benedictus y P. excisum nos permite acotar la posición cronoestratigráfica hasta cerca de los 3,0 Ma. Las asociaciones dominantes en los sedimentos pliocenos apuntan a medios marinos someros, con fondos detríticos y energías variables, sometidos a la acción de tormentas, corroborado por la impronta tafonómica, como pueden ser sistemas de playa- duna y ambientes submareales donde se desarrollan barras y canales. ABSTRACT: This study has been carried out in pectinids (Bivalvia, Mollusca) of pliocene sediments from Vejer de la Frontera basin (Cádiz, SW Spain). ABSTRACT The effects of the starvation trial on the biochemical composition and the fatty acid dynamics in the triacylglycerol frac- tion of the digestive gland, gonads and adductor muscle of the scallop Flexopecten glaber were assessed. Results show that three weeks of food deprivation induce depletion of carbohydrates and a significant decrease in proteins and lipids. The noteworthy patterns recorded for the various classes of lipids were the increase of the amount of phosphatidyletha- nolamine against a strong decline of mono-diacylglycerols, triacylglycerol and phosphatidylserine classes in gonads. These results reflect the ability of Flexopecten glaber to remodel endogenous lipid classes in order to avoid the gonads deterioration. In the starved specimens, severe declines of the n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid group were recorded in the triacylglycerol fraction of digestive gland and adductor muscle against the increase of this group in gonads. -
