ProjectWise SS4 Explorer and Tools Installation Instructions – External Users

Overview Before you start the installation process, please ensure that you are an Administrator to your computer. If you are not an administrator on your PC, you will not be able to complete the download and installation.

Also please ensure that you are connected to your internet service.

The ProjectWise installation consists of three separate components: 1. The ProjectWise application 2. The Email Tool used for sending HTML emails via ProjectWise 3. The Folder Search Tool used for searching folder names in ProjectWise

All three components are needed in order to help your ProjectWise experience be easier and more effective. This document includes the installation and configuration process for all three components.

Obtain the Installation Files

Download the The installation package for MDOT’s ProjectWise SS4 Explorer is available on Installation the MDOT FTP site. Use the following procedure in order to download the Packages Installation package:

Step Action 1 In you internet browser address bar, enter: ftp://ftpmdot.state.mi.us/Documentation And then click the Enter key 2 From the available list of files, single LEFT click the desired files. Be sure to download all the files listed:  01_PW Explorer Install Package.zip  02_Bentley Send Email From PW.zip  03_MDOT Search Tool.zip 3 Click Save. Note: This will save the zip file into your Download folder. 4 You can now close out of the FTP site.

1 Installing and Configuring ProjectWise Explorer

Install PW Once you have downloaded the installation package zip file from the FTP site Explorer you need to install the PW Explorer application. Use the following procedure in order to install PW Explorer:

Step Action 1 Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the Downloads folder.

2 Open the Downloads folder. And then Open the 01 – PW Explorer Install Package.zip folder.

3 Double click on the setup.exe file to launch process.

4 On the ProjectWise V8i (SELECT series 4) Client Setups window, click the Install button to the left of the ProjectWise Explorer option.

Note: In order to reduce the size of this installation, many of the other listed options are not available through this installation process.

2 Step Action 5 On the Welcome screen, select Next.

6 In the License Agreement window: 1. Use the radio button in order to select the “I accept the terms in the license agreement” option 2. Click Next.

7 Note: Please note that your selection options on this step are contingent on the MS Office you have.

 If you have MS Office 13 or 16, follow step 7A  If you have MS Office 10 or older, follow step 7B 7A For MS Office 13 and 16, in the Setup Type window:

1. Use the radio button in order to select the Typical option.

2. Click Next

You may now proceed to step 8. 7B For MS Office 10 or older, in the Setup Type window:

1. Use the radio button in order to select the Custom option

2. Click Next.

In the Custom Setup window, 1. Use the + symbol to expand the following options:

3 Step Action  Desktop Integration   Office 2010 (or whatever version of office you have) 2. Use the down arrow to select the X – This feature will not be available option for all Microsoft applications except Microsoft Outlook. 8 On the Custom Setup window, select Next

9 In the Ready to Install the Program window, select Install.

Note: Your installation will now take plance and could take several minutes to install. 10 On the Setup Wizard Completed window, click Finish

4 Step Action 11 Your software installation in now complete. On the ProjectWise V8i (SELECT series 4) Client Setups window, click Exit.

Configuring The ProjectWise program has been installed, now you must configure your ProjectWise ProjectWise Datasource and DNS Services.

Please Note: You must be an administrator to your machine in order to make these configuration changes.

Step Action 1 Open the Control Panel.  For , click Start icon, scroll to Control Panel  For or 10, right click on Start, select Control Panel.

Make sure the control panel View By option is set to Category 2 Open the Network and Internet option

3 Open the ProjectWise V8i Network option. This will open the ProjectWise Network Configuration Settings. 4 On the General Tab, ensure the Prevent UDP for DNS and Listing is checked.

If it is unchecked, select the box to the right in order to check it.

5 Step Action 5 On the DNS Service tab, 1. Enter the following information:  In the Name field enter: MDOTPwiseSS4  In the Hostname field enter mdotpwisess4.state.mi.us  In the Port field enter 5800 2. Ensure the Prevent UDP is checked. If it is unchecked, select the box to the right in order to check it. 3. Click Add 6 On the Datasource Listing tab, 1. Enter the following information:  In the Name field enter: MDOTPwiseSS4  In the Hostname field enter mdotpwisess4.state.mi.us  In the Port field enter 5800 2. Ensure the Prevent UDP is checked. If it is unchecked, select the box to the right in order to check it. 3. Click Add 4. Click OK Note Close any windows that remained open during your installation.

Test the PW You are now finished with the ProjectWise installation and configuration setup. Installation and You will want to test your setup to ensure it was properly configured. The best Configuration way to do that is to log into ProjectWise.

Step Action 1 Launch ProjectWise Explorer  Windows 7 - Start > All Programs > Bentley > ProjectWise v8i (SelectSeries4) > ProjectWise Explorer  - Windows button (used to be start) > All Apps > Bentley > ProjectWise Explorer Note: If your configuration is set up correctly your ProjectWise Explorer Datasource should look like this.

If you mis-typed something in the DNS Services or Datasource Listing, then you ProjectWise Explorer Datsource will look like this.

In order to correct the datasources, simply go back to the Configuring ProjectWise section of this document and verify/modify your settings.

6 Step Action 2 To login ProjectWise, Open the Datasource menu, select Login…

You can also double click on the MDOTProjectWise to launch the login window. 3 In the ProjectWise Explorer Log in window:  Ensure MDOTProjectWise is listed in the Datasource field  Enter your User Name  Enter your Password  Click Log In 4 On the ProjectWise Explorer pop-up window, click Yes to create the C:\Pwise working directory.

You should now be successfully logged into ProjectWise. If you had an errors or issues with the configuration testing. Please contact your appropriate ProjectWise support resource for assistance.

Installing and Testing the ProjectWise Tools

Install the PW Now that you have verified that your ProjectWise installation is properly Email Tool configured, you will now want to install the Email tool that allows the ProjectWise system generated emails to send as HTML with hyperlinks.

Please use the following procedure in order to install the HTML email tool.

Step Action 1 Ensure you are logged out of ProjectWise Explorer and the application is closed. 2 From your downloads folder, double click on the 02 Bentley Send Email from PW zip file.

3 Double click on the sendemailliknksfrompwsetup.msi

7 Step Action 4 On the Send ProjectWise Links Setup screen: 1. Accept the License Agreement 2. Click Install

5 On the Send ProjectWise Links Setup screen, click Finish

Note Close any windows that remained open during your installation.

Test the Email You’ve finished the Email tool installation, now you will want to use the following Tool Installation procedure in order to test the email installation was successful.

Step Action 1 Login to ProjectWise Explorer 2 In ProjectWise, navigate to: MDOTProjectWise\Documents\Z-HTML Email Test 3 Drop and Drag a test file into the Z-HTML Email Test folder. 4 Right click on your file  Scroll down the list to Change State  Select Next 5 In the Comments tab, click OK.

8 Step Action 6 If you see the following email, then you have successfully installed the Email tool.

You can either send the email or close and exit.

Sometimes the email minimizes. You may want to check your task bar to ensure the email launched properly.

If you do not see the email. Contact your appropriate ProjectWise Support Resource for assistance.

Install the PW The ProjectWise Folder Search tool allows you to search for folder names within Folder Search ProjectWise. Please use the following procedure in order to install the folder Tool search tool and create a desktop icon.

Step Action 1 In your Downloads folder, double click the 03 MDOT Search Install zip file.

2 Highlight the PWFolderSearch.exe

3 Depending on your zip application, Select Extract or Extract To

4 Navigate to (C:) / Program Files (86) / Bentley / ProjectWise / bin

Depending on your zip application, click OK or Copy

9 Step Action 5 In your windows explorer, navigate to (C:) / Program Files (86) / Bentley / ProjectWise / bin  Right click the PWFolderSearch.exe  Select Create Shortcut  Click Yes to create the shortcut in the desk top

Note The following icon should now be available on your desktop.

Test the PW Now that you have completed the ProjectWise Folder Search tool installation, you will Folder Search want to ensure there are now installation issues. The best to test the installation is to log Installation into the search tool. Use the following procedure to log into the search tool.

Step Action 1 Double click on the Folder Search tool desktop shortcut.

2 In the ProjectWise Explorer Log in window:  Ensure MDOTProjectWise is listed in the Datasource field  Enter your User Name  Enter your Password  Click Log In 3 If you see the following ProjectWise Folder Search window, then your installation was successful.

If you do not see this ProjectWise Folder Search window, please contact your appropriate ProjectWise Support resource for assistance. 4 Close any windows you may have remaining open from your installation.
